Dozens of Tamil fishermen have been trapped under Cyclone Kyarr!

The coastal areas and the fishermen of Tamil Nadu have been facing unprecedented devastation through the course of cyclonic winds where the coastal areas would either be smashed and destroyed by the hands of Cyclones or the people will lost their lives and get displaced from their families and Cyclones Ockhi and Gaja were the previous examples in last two years where the sea, which fed the fishermen had swallowed them in return while the whereabouts of some of the fishermen remain unclear.

As like its predecessors, Cyclone Kyarr had relatively brought major destruction in the coastal areas in southern parts of Tamil Nadu where it has been reported that over 60 fishermen are believed to be trapped in the deep sea as they haven't turned back to home for over two weeks that had emerged more uncertainty among their families and most of the fishermen belong to Kanyakumari and Tuticorin districts of Tamil Nadu. The reports say that over 100 boats had sailed into the sea from Vallavailai in Kanyakumari district and while about 94 boats had reached the shores of Kochi, Mumbai and Goa following the warning of Cyclone Kyarr, the condition of the six boats remains unclear. The village people had stated that they could have stranded or gone missing in deep sea.

The villagers claimed that no authorities had visited the village but the district collector of Kanyakumari Prashant M Wadnere had cited that the district administration has been taking mandatory steps to locate and to rescue the fishermen. He said that the officials have been in contact with state fisheries department which has been exchanging inputs with the Indian Navy and coast guard.

He further stated that the authorities had reached to Oman coast guard and cited that they have been trying to reach six boats but are still unreachable. He added that the prior warnings were issued for the fishermen about Cyclone Kyarr but claimed that they are not sure whether the warnings had reached them.
