Expelled DMK leader gets top post in Tamil Nadu BJP!

Nearly six weeks after switching his side from standing against the rival to standing with the rival, expelled DMK's leader VP Duraisamy has been awarded one of the top posts of the Tamil Nadu BJP unit which has combinedly shocked and surprised the cadres and leaders of both sides of the aisle.

VP Duraisamy was one of the deputy general secretaries of the DMK party and had been observing close ties in the party's leadership circle. On May 20, he dissented against the party and held an unanticipated meet with Tamil Nadu BJP Chief L Murugan, who has been rivaling against the DMK. Duraisamy's meet with the BJP leader shocked the state's opposition party and the dissented leader sent the signal that he would be switching his side.

Following the meet, DMK President MK Stalin had expelled Duraisamy from the party on May 21, and on the next day, May 22, Duraisamy officially joined in BJP in the presence of the state leaders. Upon joining the saffron camp, Duraisamy had voiced against Stalin and the DMK party and claimed that Prime Minister Modi has been working hard to uplift the lives of oppressed communities.

He was welcomed by the BJP leadership and it was speculated that he would be provided with one of the top posts in the party after exiting the DMK, which is one of the strongest rivals of BJP. Amid the speculations, Duraisamy has been appointed as Tamil Nadu BJP's Deputy President on Friday -July 3. According to the reports, Duraisamy has been given one of the top posts by Tamil Nadu BJP President L Murugan.

The state's unit of Central ruling party had carried out shuffles and appointments and along with appointing Duraisamy as the state's deputy president, L Murugan has also appointed Vanathi Srinivasan as one of the deputy presidents of the state unit.

Vanathi Srinivasan was serving as the party's general secretary and the state unit has also appointed Actor Namitha as the member of the state executive committee whereas recently joined Paul Kanagaraj has been appointed as the chief of lawyers wing of the state unit. The reports stated that Duraisamy has dissented against DMK after his candidacy for Rajya Sabha was declined by the party's leadership.

Duraisamy was one of the DMK party's deputy general secretaries and he had previously served as an MP and as Deputy Speaker of Tamil Nadu Legislative assembly. Now, he will work with BJP's L Murugan who has been serving as the Vice-Chairman of National Commission for Scheduled Castes.
