In a shocking development, a father and his two daughters in the Tiruvallur district, Tamil Nadu had committed suicide after the father had developed the symptoms of the COVID-19 pandemic. They had left a suicide note in which they had said that nobody was responsible for their death and the father had also donated his five cents of land and few valuables to trust in their village.

The shocking incident had come to light during the night hours of Thursday after the neighbours of the family had informed the police that they are catching the odour smell from the house. The police had arrived at the spot and the officials had said that they might have died three days ago. They had recovered the bodies and sent them to Tiruvallur government hospital for performing an autopsy.

According to reports, the man was identified as 65-year-old Selvaraj, who was an electrician in the area. His deceased daughters were identified as 35-year-old Hemalatha and 30-year-old Shanthi. Hemalatha was a divorcee and stayed with her father and sister and the trio belong to the Tiruvallur district.

The reports say that Selvaraj and his two daughters had earlier lived in Avadi, Chennai for more than a decade, and his wife and eldest daughter died three years ago. Selvaraj had recently developed COVID-19 symptoms and the trio had quarantined themselves at home. They haven't visited any hospital for treatment. Days after he developed the symptoms, he and his daughters had taken the extreme step of ending their lives.

The police had reached the spot after receiving information from the neighbours and the officials broke the doors and entered the residence only to find the three hanging. An investigative officer said, "Their bodies were in a decomposed state and they may have died three days ago."

The officer further stated, "Selvaraj had mentioned in the suicide note that nobody was responsible for their death and that their bodies should be handed over to Sevalaya trust in the village and not to any of their relatives. He also had donated a six-gram gold ornament and Rs 4000 to the trust." By sending the bodies to the Tiruvallur government hospital for an autopsy, the police had launched the probe into the matter.
