Finally, 'Master' Vijay arrives in style: It's Master Pongal for Thalapathy fans! Check how they celebrate

Finally, 'Master' Vijay has arrived on the big screens after the incessant wait for nearly a year. The ardent fans of Thalapathy have gone agog and celebrating 'Master' Pongal across and beyond the state. With much-anticipation, the movie has released on January 13- Wednesday in thousands of theaters and fans have been thronging to theaters since Wednesday morning to celebrate and relish Vijay's 'Master' comeback on the big screens after one-and-a-half years. 

The visuals from across the state have shown how the fans were eager to watch the movie as they had erected large banners of Vijay before the theaters and burst crackers to welcome the movie in style. To relish watching the movie on the First Day First Show (FDFS), the fans had gathered in large numbers and they were seen wearing T-shirts printed with Vijay's photo. According to reports, the typical early morning shows had seen packed cinema halls in some places in Southern India. 

Though there was an advance ticket booking system, many fans had gathered and queued up before the counters to get the tickets by braving the government restrictions and other COVID-19 protocols. With the grand release, Master has become the first big movie of Kollywood to release in the theaters after the resumption of the theaters after facing unprecedented testing times triggered by the COVID-19 outbreak and the lockdown.

When the indefinite shut down of the theaters led to the surge of OTT platforms, Master had stood with its affirmation that the movie is only for theatrical release and braved the delay till the resumption of theaters. The works of the movie release got paced up after the resumption of the theaters to get the movie hit the screens during Pongal. The producers and the entire movie crew had long-waited to take the movie to the fans and audience. 

After the certification from the censor board, the movie was at the final phase of release and the developments had poured more expectations on the movie and amid the strong expectations from the fans, the movie was slated to release on January 13 and the fans had gone agog to watch the movie and their charismatic Thalapathy Vijay after more than a year. With U/A certification, thousands of theaters had prepared to screen the movie with the hope that they would have a potential revival from the distressed lockdown. 

Ahead of the release, Vijay had met with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami and requested to permit 100% seating capacity in the theaters for the movie. Following his request, the government had ordered fullest occupancy in the theaters during Pongal, but the order eventually got castigated by the Center and health experts following which the state government took back the order and said that the theaters can function with 50% seating capacity owing to COVID-19 and they can screen additional shows.  

Days ahead of the release, the movie team was shocked to learn that some of the movie clips were pirated and leaked online which troubled them and the fans and they strongly appealed to the people not to share the leaked content and to report them and the director had said that the movie was made possible by bracing up the year-long struggle and appealed the fans to watch the movies in the theaters. 

After facing challenges and troubles, 'Master' has finally arrived in the theaters and the fans had given a royal welcome to Thalapathy Vijay. The movie has been trending on social media and had seen a classy welcome across the states. Ardent fans of actor Vijay had celebrated outside Carnival Cinemas in Wadala, Mumbai as Master has released today. They had erected banners and cutouts and they also had distributed hand sanitizers and saplings with posters of Master on the bottles and pots. 

Back in Chennai, Thalapathy fans had gathered outside the cinema halls in the early morning to enjoy watching the first show in the theaters. The cinema halls across the city and state have been witnessing great crowds as the fans throng to watch the movie. Master is bankrolled by Xavier Britto under the banner of XB Film Creators while Lokesh Kanagaraj has directed the movie, which marks the first collaboration for 'Kaithi' director to work with Vijay. While Vijay will be playing the role of the college professor, Vijay Sethupathi will be playing the antagonist, and Malavika Mohanan in the female lead. Andrea Jeremiah, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, and Gauri Kishan will be playing important roles. The fans have been sharing their reviews on social media, which had shown that the movie has got a decent reception.
