Flipkart co-founder Sachin Bansal’s wife filed a case against him for dowry harassment!

A dowry harassment case has been filed against Sachin Bansal, the co-founder of Flipkart, by his wife Priya in Koramangala Police station in Bengaluru, reports say. Priya alleged that she has been harassed by her husband and his family members over dowry. 

In her complaint that was filed on February 28th, she named four persons - Sachin Bansal, his mother Kiran Bansal, father Satprakash Aggarwal, and brother Nitin Bansal for harassing her and she stated that the dowry harassment has begun much before the wedding. She further mentioned that her father had spent  Rs 50 lakh for the wedding and he has given Rs 11 lakh to Sachin in cash.

She claimed that she has been physically assaulted by Sachin Bansal with the demand for money. She stated that in the last October, Sachin reportedly harassed her with the demand of transferring the properties they jointly owned to him and she added that Sachin allegedly harassed her sister in Delhi. She further notified the police that Sachin, his brother, and his parents had harassed her after she denied to transfer the properties to Sachin.

With accord to her complaint, the Koramangala police department had filed a case against Sachin under two sections of IPC - Section 498A of dowry harassment and Section 34 of Criminal Intent and under sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act. However, the reports have stated that Sachin Bansal has already moved his plea to court on February 29 to seek bail and the court will be issuing directives on his petition on Thursday.

Sachin Bansal was the co-founder of Flipkart, one of the Indian e-commerce giants and he held the position of Chief Executive Officer and Executive Chairman until he quitted from the company in 2018 after it was acquired by Walmart at $16 million. After he quit from Flipkart, Sachin has been investing in multiple startups including Ola, where he invested $100 million and he then went on to establish Navi Technologies which is an investment firm concentrating on the financial services sector. Sachin Bansal had married Priya, who is a dentist by profession, in 2008.
