Besides being popular for temples in the state of Tamil Nadu, Madurai is also known for its foods -particularly, the temple city has a wide range of people who are fond of its different varieties of parottas and when Madurai has been emerging as the active COVID-19 hotspot in Tamil Nadu, the city's well-known restaurant has pitched in with the new initiative of creating awareness to people through their favorite food - parottas in the shape of face masks.

Madurai's 'Temple city' restaurant, which is known for its innovative style of making the recipes, has been making out parottas in the shape of face masks to create awareness to the people to wear face masks to break the chain of the virus spread in the city. The restaurant has been making such parotta masks since Tuesday and since then, the newly introduced parotta has been the talk of the town.

Restaurant's owner KL Kumar has said that the current state of the COVID-19 outbreak in Madurai has led him to make such parottas. He said there are many people who are still violating the rules of wearing masks despite the district administration has mandated everyone to wear the masks.

After witnessing such people with no masks amid the rapid spread, Kumar states that he has decided to create awareness to the people on the necessity of following the guidelines.

Following that, he had a word with the parotta chef in the restaurant after which they have been making parottas that look like face masks. After it has gone viral on social media, Kumar's hotel has started making the parottas from 11 am on Wednesday. Usually, parottas are prepared in the evening hours. However, these face-masks parottas had attained huge attention that the hotel starts preparing from the morning.

The hotel has been trading the face-mask parottas at Rs 50 each set and on Wednesday, the hotel has sold over 500 sets of parottas and he clearly adds that the motive behind making such parottas is to create awareness and to ensure that people understand and stick to the guidelines. He further adds that his restaurant has been distributing a face mask at a free of cost for whoever walks into the hotel without a mask.

Earlier, some of the most consumed foods in Tamil Nadu had gone into the shape of Coronavirus. Dishes like Bondas and Dosas were made in the shape of the virus and in line with that, the temple city has introduced the face-mask parottas which has stolen the show by having a viral reach, faster than the virus.
