Former Indian cricketer invites controversy: Will CSK go against MS Dhoni?

Former Indian Cricketer Aakash Chopra had invited massive flak and controversies after he said that the Chennai Super Kings shouldn't retain MS Dhoni in the team for the upcoming IPL season if the franchisee wishes to make a good team from scratch.

In a video that he posted on Facebook, the former Indian batsman has said that CSK should not retain MS Dhoni if there is a mega auction during the next season of the world's wealthiest cricket league. Chopra claimed that if CSK has decided to retain the legendary captain, the team will lose Rs 15 crore and Chopra recommended the team to make use of that fund elsewhere.

Chopra said that CSK should send Dhoni into the auction pool and then the team can use the Right to Match (RTM) card to buy him back. The former batsman went on to say that if CSK sends Dhoni to the mega auction, the team management can reserve additional money in its kitty so that the team can make a good team from scratch.

In his video, he said, "I think CSK should release MS Dhoni into the mega auction, if there is a mega auction then you will be with that player for three years. But will Dhoni stay with the team for three years? I'm not saying don't keep Dhoni, but if you keep him as a retained player but you will have to pay Rs 15 crore".

He stated "If you release Dhoni for the mega auction, you can pick him with the Right To Match card and you can pick the right players by having the desired money in your kitty. You can pick Dhoni in the auction, from CSK point of view, if they release Dhoni and then pick him up in auction, it would be beneficial for them".

By citing that the CSK doesn't have many players that can be retained, Chopra said that the team needs a mega auction. "If you want to make a team from the scratch, then are you willing to spend big bucks on the likes of Faf du Plessis and Ambati Rayudu? I don't think that CSK will look at the likes of Raina and Harbhajan if they are making a team from scratch", Chopra added.

The remarks from the former Indian batsman recommending the CSK not to retain Dhoni in the upcoming season have come when the men in yellow had faltered tournament through its flawed and abysmal performances during the recently concluded IPL season. With back to back defeats, CSK was pushed to seventh place in the points table it's the first time that Dhoni's army failed to qualify for the IPL playoffs.

However, soon after Chopra posted his remarks, he has been surfaced with major flak and controversy as Tweeple and users across social media have been flaying former Indian batsman. The users and fans of MS Dhoni have been questioning Chopra to compare his competence to Dhoni and some of the users had said Chopra has been seeking to gain attention and asked not to take his remarks seriously and users raised the question that who is Chopra to decide on whether CSK should retain or release MS Dhoni for the upcoming season and some had raised the question on whether CSK would go against MS Dhoni by releasing him to the mega auction.
