Former TN BJP leader and sitting Governor is hospitalized in Chennai...Here's what happened!

Former Tamil Nadu BJP leader and sitting Governor of Manipur, La Ganesan has been hospitalized in Chennai after he developed chest pain. The 77-year-old leader has been getting treated at a private hospital in the city and several leaders from across the country have wished him a swift recovery. 

La Ganesan was a prominent leader of the BJP until he was appointed as Governor of Manipur last year. Currently, besides serving as the Governor of Manipur, Ganesan is also serving as the acting Governor of West Bengal. According to reports, Ganesan has come to Chennai recently to meet his brother, Narayanan. On Saturday- October 1, he complained of chest pain after which he was rushed to the hospital. 

He was staying in his house in T Nagar and after he reported health discomfort, he was taken to MGM Healthcare Hospital in Aminjikarai, Chennai for further treatments. The reports say that the hospital will be issuing an update about his health condition soon. A senior Tamil Nadu BJP leader, close to Ganesan, said, "He had come here on a personal visit. He was diagnosed with a block in the heart. He is doing good." 

Ganesan had served as a BJP MP in Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh between 2016 to 2018. He also had served as the President of the Tamil Nadu BJP unit. He assumed office as the Governor of Manipur on August 27, 2021, and was given additional charge of West Bengal in July this year after the then incumbent Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned the post to contest in the country's vice presidential elections.
