Four brand new Innova cars to four TN BJP leaders as a gift: BJP fulfills its promise!

The Tamil Nadu BJP unit has on Sunday gifted four Innova cars to four leaders for winning the seats in the recently-held assembly polls in the state. The Tamil Nadu BJP unit has promised an Innova car for the party's district secretaries if they make the candidates win the polls and on Sunday, the party has gifted the cars to four district secretaries as a reward for their work towards making the party candidates victorious.

The then BJP state president L Murugan, who is now a Union Minister, has promised an Innova car during the election runoff to spark the leaders and cadres to carry out full-fledged work for the party's victory in the polls. In the elections, BJP had contested in the ADMK alliance and fielded 20 candidates across the state. While the election wind was in favour of DMK as the sequel of the anti-incumbency wave against the Edappadi Palaniswami regime, the BJP had managed to win four seats and entered the assembly for the first time in two decades.

The BJP had won in Coimbatore South (Vanathi Srinivasan), Tirunelveli (Nainar Nagendran), Saraswathi (Modakurichi), and MR Gandhi (Nagercoil) and the party had claimed that the victory of four seats had shown that the voters in Tamil Nadu had begun accepting the BJP and Narendra Modi. The elections were held on April 6 and the results were announced on May 2. The DMK- alliance had secured a landslide victory and MK Stalin had formed a new government. Nearly four months after the elections, the Tamil Nadu BJP unit has on Sunday fulfilled the promise made by Murugan and provided four Innova cars to four party secretaries of the districts where these constituencies fall.

On Sunday, at an event that was held in BJP Tamil Nadu headquarters Kamalalayam, Union Minister L Murugan and Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai had provided the Toyota Innova Crysta to the four BJP district secretaries - Nandakumar (Coimbatore), Maharajan (Tirunelveli), Dharmarajan (Kanyakumari), and Sivasubramanian (Erode). According to reports, the cars were purchased using party funds and speaking to the media, senior Tamil Nadu BJP leader CP Radhakrishnan said that the cars were gifted to recognize hard-working district secretaries who won in the midst of anti-BJP climate in the state.

He added that such rewards were given by the DMK previously and it's the first time that the BJP is giving such reward and the party workers will be relished over the reward. It must be noted that providing a reward for the party workers has been a fashion of ADMK and DMK in the state as these two parties had even gifted gold to the cadres who were behind the successful election results.

For BJP, winning four seats in Tamil Nadu is a great turning point to enhance its base in the state and with such gifts and elevating the Tamil Nadu leaders to the national level, the BJP waters its hope that it can emerge as a prominent political force in Tamil Nadu in 2026. The BJP had won four seats in Tamil Nadu in the 2001 polls last time and it has taken two decades for the party to win four seats again in the state. By provinding a car as a token of encouragement, the BJP has currently been focused on the upcoming local body polls in Tamil Nadu and the party has already formed a 17-member panel for preparations for the local body polls.
