Fresh trouble for Blue Sattai Maran...Will he bring his 'Anti Indian' to the big screens?

Controversial Youtube movie reviewer 'Blue Sattai' Maran's stint as a director may end up catching a tiger by the tail as he has been enduring a back-to-back shock and setbacks in releasing his debut movie 'Anti Indian'. He has been boxing with the Censor Board to bring his movie out successfully and to answering his critics on how a movie should be directed.

Ilamaran, popularly known as Blue Sattai Maran for wearing a blue-coloured dress during the review, is one of the controversial figures in Tamil Nadu to earn major outrage from the Kollywood industry as his movie reviews would be grating and degrading the storyline, which in a way declines the scale of the audience watching the movie. He rose to popularity through his direct attacks on the movies with several directors and producers are disputing against him.

Some of the top moviemakers had voiced against Maran for his unhealthy reviews and he also had earned flak from the fans who directly asked him to direct a movie before criticizing one. Following such demands, Maran had last year announced that he will be directing a movie and he also had shared that his movie would be in a very perfect tone in every aspect.

He had announced the movie name as 'Anti Indian' and began the works last year to challenge the critics. However, last month, the Censor Board has denied certifying his film and the denial has shocked Maran. He has submitted the movie to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for review and censor on April 5. However, the board has refused to certify the film on the same day.

The denial of certification was due to the storyline of his movie as it had several controversial and disputable scenes which aim to provoke. It was reported that Maran's movie carries the current political situation in the country and religious politics in a satirical fashion. The censor board would direct the removal of some scenes in a movie that it decides unfit but the denial of rejection is the rarest event.

After witnessing a denial, several social media users had said Maran would have probably realized the difficulty of making a movie. However, following the denial, Maran has recently approached the revisiting committee of the CBFC in Chennai to have a certification for his movie at a high time when he had been in talks with the OTT platforms to release the movie. While the censor board had banned his movie initially by denying the certification, the revisiting committee has given a further shock to Maran with the directive of removing scenes close to the essence of the movie.

In what has become fresh trouble for the reviewer, the revisiting committee has asked the movie team to change the movie title and directed to cut 38 scenes from the movie if it has to be released. 38 cuts would be a massive scale of deletions for any movie and to release the movie and become a director, Maran has to oblige the recommendations from the revisiting committee. He has stated that if those 38 cuts were to be removed, all the crucial scenes and the story of 'Anti Indian' will be lost.

As he has been facing trouble in releasing his first movie as the director, the reports say that Maran has planned to approach the tribunal or court to challenge the censor board in releasing his movie. 'Anti Indian' is produced by Adam Bhava under the banner of Moon Pictures and with the new order of removing 38 scenes, the producer said, "We have planned to appeal to the court. We believe we will get a favourable verdict in court. Our wish is to release this movie in theatres without any hindrance and it will happen."

While Maran has taken charge of the direction, music composing, dialogue, and screenplay of the movie, actors Narain and Radha Ravi have been roped in to play the important roles. It has been reported that the movie team will approach the court earlier next week in a bid to release the movie during the second half of the year. It must be noted that Maran had released a motion poster of the movie a few days ago on his Youtube channel 'Tamil Talkies'.
