Pichaikkaran 2 is the sequel to Vijay Antony's critically acclaimed 2016 Tamil film Pichaikkaran, and it marks his directorial debut. Bilingual releases in Tamil and Telugu are expected, with the Telugu version being titled Bichagadu 2 upon its debut.

While filming for 'Pichaikaran-2' is in high gear, the police have arrested three members of the film crew for allegedly filming the Chennai High Court and Bar Council premises with a drone. The three accused were reportedly freed after posting bail.

According to reports, the crew had police clearance to film over the Ripon Building and the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital in Chennai, but they skipped getting clearance to film the Madras High Court with a drone camera. According to the reports, technicians Suresh, Rubesh, and Praveen Kumar were arrested for the offense, but they were later freed after posting bail.

Sasi directed the first film, which came out in 2016, and production on the sequel kicked off in 2021. Furthermore, through his company, Vijay Antony Film Corporation, he will compose the music, edit, and produce the film. Along with John Vijay and Harish Peraddi, YG Mahendra, Ajay Ghosh, Yogi Babu, and others star in Pichaikkaran 2. The first part of Pichaikaaran is based on the story of Arul, a billionaire businessman who pretends to be a homeless person for 48 days.
