Google CEO Sundar Pichai donates for daily wage workers - Here's the update!

Google and Alphabet CEO and one of the powerful people in the global software industry Sundar Pichai has come forward in extending his hands to lift the Indian daily wage workers who are stranded under the economic instability due to the Coronavirus outbreak through making a donation towards relaxing their burdens.

The Indian born and Chief Executive of the global tech giant has donated Rs 5 crore to 'Give India', one of the Indian based non-profit organizations, in the wake of lockdown. Give India has acknowledged the grant and thanked Sundar Pichai for providing cash assistance for the families of daily wage workers who have been suffering due to the crisis triggered by Coronavirus.

 

According to the reports, Give India has raised Rs 12 crore to support the families of the daily-wage workers and the vulnerable section so far. Last month, Sundar Pichai announced that the company will provide over $800 million with the view of supporting the frontline workers, governments, health organizations, small, and medium businesses to grip up the fight against the COVID-19 global pandemic. 

The reports stated that the $800 million grant announced by Sundar Pichai include the $250 million stimuli to the World Health Organization (WHO) and over a hundred government agencies around the world to provide the preventive and mitigation measures in the communities to prevent from the pandemic. Google has said that the company has committed a $200 million investment fund to support NGOs and financial institutions globally to aid the small business.

According to the Union Health Ministry, India has reported 10,363 cases positive for the virus in its territory so far as of Tuesday noon, of which 1036 patients have been recovered and discharged while 339 people have died. On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that the nationwide lockdown has been extended till May 3rd, 2020.
