Happy news for Thalapathy fans...Vijay's 'Beast' gets a release date: It's not when you thought!

When the movie team of Vijay's upcoming 'Beast' unveiled the announcement that the movie will be released in April 2022, the fans had initially thought that the release date would be April 14, on the occasion of Tamil New Year. But, the latest announcement from the team has revealed the official release date of Beast and it was not when they actually thought it would be.

On Tuesday - March 22, Sun Pictures, which has bankrolled Beast, has announced that the movie will hit the big screens on April 13, one day prior to the earlier predictions. As the months of wait is getting shorter to days, the ardent fans of Thalapathy Vijay are celebrating the news and preparing to spectacle their favourite actor in a new storyline and a promising cast. By sharing a new poster, Sun Pictures has revealed that Beast has been slated for a worldwide release on April 13.

Along with the release date, the fans have also got some crucial updates over the movie's censor and running time. On Monday - March 21, the CBFC has censored Beast with a U/A certificate and the movie's running time would be around 2 hours and 35 minutes. Though it's shorter while compared to previous Vijay movies that ran for 2 hours 45 to 50 minutes, it didn't affect the expectations of the movie as Vijay has teamed up with a successful director Nelson Dilipkumar.

The reports say that to know the censor certificate, the fans have stormed to the CBFC website, which endured a crash owing to the massive traffic. While the movie team has announced the official release date, it is yet to clarify how the songs of the movie will be released. Earlier, it was said that the movie team has decided to skip the audio launch event. On the other hand, the team has released the lyric videos of two songs that are creating a milestone on Youtube by garnering millions of views in a short span of time.

On the front of why the movie team has decided to release the movie on April 13 instead of April 14, the reports say that the decision was taken to avoid the opening day clash with KGF: Chapter 2, which will be released on April 14. Beast aims to have a historical first-day opening and grossing and no collision should disturb the movie's run. Though KGF 2 is a Kannada movie, actor Yash has a significant fan base in Tamil Nadu as the Tamil fans were vital for the success of KGF's first part.

Beast is helmed by Nelson Dilipkumar and while Vijay plays the lead role, Pooja Hegde, Selvaraghavan, Yogi Babu, Shine Tom Chacko, John Vijay, VTV Ganesh, and Aparna Das play important roles. Anirudh has composed the music and the movie is made on the budget of Rs 150 crores. Vijay was last seen in Master- directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and after Beast, he will be teaming up with Telugu director Vamsi Paidipally for his next project that has been tentatively named Thalapathy 66.
