Hathras case: BJP leader draws flak after declaring accused as 'innocents': See his reason behind the claim!

Amid the nationwide outrage that has been centered at the state of Uttar Pradesh over the Hathras gangrape incident, the BJP leader from the state had now stirred controversy after claiming that the accused of the gangrape are innocent and labeling the victim, who demised due to grave injuries, as the accused.

Ranjeet Bahadur Srivastava, who is the BJP leader from Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh had drawn massive flak from the activists and the opposition parties after he gave a clean shit to the four accused of the gang-rape and said that the 19-year-old Dalit victim was an accused and went on to give his assurance that the four accused are innocent.

The leader, who has over 44 criminal cases against him, has aired the shocking statement during an interview with the local television channel on Tuesday night. What more awful was the reason that he gave in support of his claim that the accused are innocent. During an interview, he said that the 19-year-old was having an affair with the accused and she had called him to the millet field on September 14, during which she was gang-raped.

With disclosing no evidence for his claim, Srivatsava went on to say that the victim must have called the boy to the field because they had an affair and the BJP further stated that their affair has become public and already out on social media and the woman must have caught after that. He further character assassinated her by stating that such women are found dead in a few specific spots.

He said that such girls are found dead in only some places and they will be found dead in sugarcane, millet, and corn fields or in the bushes or forests. Why such bodies were found dead in paddy or wheat fields?, the BJP leader questioned while sticking strong to his remarks.

He went on to put out the reason for his claim. He said that crops like corn, millet, and sugarcane would grow as tall as humans which in a way that it can conceal a person whereas the crops like paddy and wheat would grow up to only three or four feet in height, saying that no one can see such crimes that happen behind the corn, millet, and sugarcane fields. By declaring the accused as innocents, Srivastava had demanded that they should be released from the prison till the CBI files a charge sheet against them in the case.

He further said that the accused will face mental harassment inside the prison if they are not released in time. After he made such shocking statements by backing the accused even before they are declared as not guilty, he had drawn massive flak across the state and nation as it further stirred the outrage against the gang-rape incident.

Hours after he aired the statement, the National Commission for Women has issued a summon to the BJP leader seeking his explanation over his remarks and character assassinating the victim.  The commission has strongly condemned the remarks and taking to Twitter, it has said it had issued a summon for the BJP leader and notice for him to appear before the body.

The commission said, "@NCWIndia strongly condemns the offensive and defamatory remarks made by political leader #RanjeetSrivastava regarding the #Hathras victim. The Commission has sent him a notice directing him to appear before NCW on October 26th at 11 AM to give an explanation". Rekha Sharma, who is the chairperson of the National Commission for Women said Srivastava is not fit to be called a leader of any party. Sharma said, " He is showing his primitive and sick mindset and I am going to send notice to him."  Following this, the commission has sent a notice to him to appear before it and give an explanation for his remarks.
