Her work is a source of pride: MK Stalin lauds woman inspector Rajeswari for rescuing an unconscious man!

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has on Friday commended Rajeswari, a woman police inspector attached to the Chennai police, for her courageous act of rescuing a young man amid heavy rainfall. Rajeswari, who is the Inspector of Police in TP Chatram, had on Thursday carried a young man on her shoulder and sent him to hospital as he was battling for survival. The video of Rajewari rescuing him had gone viral on social media and become the talk of the town, with several users had lauded her commitment to serving the needy people.

Amid being in commendations, Rajeswari has got an invite to meet the Chief Minister. She had met Chief Minister MK Stalin at the latter's residence on Friday during which he had praised Rajeswari's service and appreciated that she had brought pride to the police department. Tamil Nadu DGP C Sylendrababu IPS and Chennai Police Commissioner Shankar Jiwal IPS were present in the meeting and Stalin had handed over his note of gratitude to Rajeswari and mentioned that her service stands as an example for the entire police department.

The Chief Minister took to social media and released pictures of the meeting and in his statement, Stalin said, "As every employee in the government has been dedicatedly discharging their duties by having in their mind that this government is the one which saves the interests of people, I express my heartfelt wishes to you (Rajeswari) for the unparalleled job of saving a life amid monsoon rains, which has become a throne of what employees have in their mind."

MK Stalin noted her landmark service in 1992. He penned, "Apart from creating various achievements in athletic competitions, your service in 1992, where you saved the lives of many from a fire accident that happened in the event of Kumbakonam magamagam, will be everlasting." "I extend my heartfelt congratulations to you for your humanitarian work of saving lives. The work you have done, compassionately in line with 'Police is your friend' is a source of pride and encouragement to all the police force", the Chief Minister added.

Commending Rajeswari's service of rescuing an unconscious man, Chennai Police Commissioner Shankar Jiwal has said, "Inspector Rajeshwari has done excellent work. She herself lifted an unconscious man who was fighting for life & sent him to a hospital. Treatment is on, he's alright. She has been an excellent officer. All the kudos go to her." On the morning hours of Thursday - November 11, the TP Chatram Police station had received phone calls about the body of a young man that was inside the inundated cemetery in Kilpauk.

A police team under Inspector Rajeswari had reached the cemetery following the calls at around 8.30 am and when she went near to the body, she noticed that the man, identified as 25-year-old Udhayakumar, was alive and battling for survival. He was submerged in the rainwater and struggling for breathing. Amid heavy rainfall, Rajeswari neither waited for an ambulance nor left the place by ordering her subordinates to take care of him. She bravely lifted Udhayakumar and carried him over her shoulders.

With a young man on her back, Rajeswari was seen going to the police jeep and other officials had handed over a dry towel for Udhayakumar. The woman inspector was then seen running on the road, by carrying Udhayakumar, to catch an auto-rickshaw. After finding an auto, Rajeswari puts Udhayakumar into it and asks the driver to take him to the hospital. Udhayakumar was made to lie down in the passenger seat and the police officers had accompanied him to Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital.

A police official said that it was unsure how long Udhayakumar had been there in the cemetery and the TP Chatram police station had received the calls saying that the man was dead and lying next to the graves. Following the call, the police team went to the spot and found that he was alive. Instead of waiting for an ambulance, Rajeswari decided to shift him to the hospital immediately and carried him on her shoulders. As the video has been going rounds on social media, several Chennaiites celebrate Rajeswari as the Singapenn (Lioness) of the city and commended her for her commitment to saving lives.
