The directive of the high court comes a day after the state government had appointed Geetha, the Assistant Inspector General of Registration as a special officer to govern and to administer the daily operations of the Artistes Association. While appointing the special officer, the state government has said that Geetha will be holding the office of special charge for one year with effect from November 6th, 2019 or until the elections of Nangidar Sangam announced, that has been pending with the Madras High court. The state government has consented the appointment after some of the members from the association have claimed that the on-ground affairs of the association have been mismanaged due to the unavailability of elected leaders.

After the state government proposed the appointment, Actor Vishal had tabled his petition in Madras High court to challenge the ruling of the government where he stated that the association has about 3000 active members and claimed the appointment illegal as it was due to the complaint of just three members. Through his petition, he urged the court to cancel the appointment.
