History is written: This DMK MLA wins Bronze Medal in weightlifting in Turkey!

In an unprecedented fashion that would probably astonish you, a DMK MLA has now scripted an out-of-the-box history through his milestone beyond the borders of the country and as a politician. DMK MLA Raja could have become the first legislator in India, to make the country proud through his achievement as an athlete. The video of him standing at the medal podium in the Asian games have been going viral and several party leaders and cadres have been commending him for his bronze feat.

Raja is a DMK MLA, representing the Sankarankoil constituency and besides being a legislator, he is also a weightlifter and fitness freak after senior DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian, who is fondly called Marathon Man. Raja has won the Bronze Medal in the 2021 Open, Sub Junior, Junior & Masters Asian Classic & Equipped Powerlifting and Benchpress Championship competition that was held in the Turkish city of Istanbul from December 24 to 30. 

Raja is also an advocate and he has been working hard to win a medal at the games. Raja has won the statewide and nationwide competition in weightlifting and reserved a berth in the Istanbul games. He participated from the Indian side for the weightlifting competition under 140-kg category and he had eventually completed the race third and got bestowed with the Bronze Medal and the made the country proud. His milestone is remarkable for any politician and his out-of-the-box achievement had turned the heads of the other politicians.

After getting qualified for the Istanbul games, Raja has received a commendation from Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin. He was the only Indian in the category and now, he had decorated the Bronze Medal. Amid being flooded with wishes, Raja has also received a crucial ticket to shine further on the world stage. According to reports, with his victory in Istanbul, Raja has now qualified to participate and represent India at the upcoming Common Wealth Games.
