Horror in TN: 19-year-old woman dies after her boyfriend set her on fire!

A 19-year-old woman in Tamil Nadu had succumbed to severe injuries after her boyfriend set her on fire when arguments picked up between them about marriage. The incident had happened on Wednesday in the Tiruppur district and after setting her on fire, the accused boyfriend got admitted to a hospital claiming that he was not feeling well.

After filing a case, the police arrested the accused and readmitted him to the hospital to treat his health condition. According to the preliminary investigations, the woman was identified as 19-year-old Pooja, who was a resident of Rayapalayam in Tiruppur. She was in a relationship with a man named Lokesh, a resident in the same area. The couple went to forest in the Panaipalayam area near Palladam alone and they picked up a quarrel.

It has been reported that while they were in the forest, Pooja asked Lokesh to marry her immediately. Quickly, they had arguments after which Lokesh hit Pooja's head with a stone and she lost her consciousness. After she fell on ground, Lokesh poured petrol on her and set her on fire. He fled the spot and when she began realizing that she was set ablaze by her boyfriend, Pooja ran from the forest area, pleading for help.

After witnessing her, the people in the area rescued her and informed the police. Pooja was immediately sent to the hospital and it was reported that she was in a critical condition. Following the information from the local people, the police rushed to the spot and investigated whether Pooja tried to commit suicide by setting herself on fire or whether someone had burnt her with the intention to kill her.

During the further investigations, it came to revelations that Lokesh set fire on Pooja. After learning that he was being searched by the police, Lokesh got admitted to the Palladam Government Hospital by claiming that he was not feeling well and the police reached the hospital and brought Lokesh under custody. Later, Lokesh was sent to Tiruppur government hospital for further treatment. On the other hand, Pooja, who sustained 90% of burn injuries, breathed her last.
