'Humbled and honored': Superstar Rajinikanth pens an emotional letter for conferring the prestigious award!

Amid being in the rain of wishes from national leaders and celebrities for receiving India's highest honor for Cinema- Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Superstar Rajinikanth has issued a statement extending his thanks to the Indian government for conferring him the honor, through which he has become the third artist in the Tamil Cinema to receive the prestigious award. 

In what has become a profound honor for Rajinikanth who decorates the Indian cinema industry as the Superstar for over four decades, the award will be conferred to him on May 3. Rajinikanth will be receiving the 51st Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javedkar has on Thursday confirmed that the superstar will be honored with the highest recognition. Taking to Twitter, Javedkar wrote, "Happy to announce #Dadasaheb Phalke award for 2019 to one of the greatest actors in history of Indian cinema Rajnikant ji His contribution as actor, producer, and screenwriter has been iconic". 

Ever since the announcement has been made, the Superstar has been getting poured with the wishes from across and beyond the borders. Several leaders and celebrities including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami, DMK President MK Stalin, and legendary actor Kamal Haasan had extended their wishes and congratulations to Rajinikanth for receiving the award.

After having been named as the recipient of the 51st Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Rajinikanth had extended his thanks to the Indian government and Prime Minister Modi. Taking to Twitter, the superstar wrote, "My heartfelt thanks to the government of India, respected & dearest @narendramodi ji, @PrakashJavdekar ji, and the jury for conferring upon me the prestigious #DadasahebPhalkeAward I sincerely dedicate it to all those who have been a part of my journey. Thanks to the almighty."

Responding to Modi's wishes in which the Prime Minister had called Rajinikanth 'Thalaiva' for the first time, the superstar wrote, "Immensely humbled and honored with your greetings and the most prestigious #DadasahebPhalkeAward award respected and dearest Shri @narendramodi ji. My heartfelt thanks to you and the government of India." Rajinikanth had also issued a statement through Twitter in which he had thanked his brother for his sacrifice and his guru K Balachander. 

In his statement, he has penned, "I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Central government and Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi for conferring me India's highest honor of cinema Dadasaheb Phalke award. I dedicate this award to my friend Raj Bahadur, who was a driver, for finding the acting talent in me and for motivating me, my elder brother Sathyanarayana Rao Gaikwad for sacrificing his life to make me an actor when I was living in poverty, my guru K Balachander for introducing me and creating this Rajinikanth, movie producers, directors, technicians, distributors, theater owners, media, and to the Tamil people and my fans all across the world". 

The superstar further wrote, "I also thank Honorable Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami, Honorable Deputy Chief Minister Panneerselvam, Honorable Opposition leader, and my friend MK Stalin, my friend Kamal Haasan, national and state political leaders, friends and fraternities in the cinema industry, and my well-wishers. Long live Tamil people, Let Tamil Nadu thrive, Jaikind". 

It was an emotional note from Rajinikanth as he dedicated the award to all those who had made him today right from his driver friend Raj Bahadur to his guru Balachander and his fans. The award, which also is termed as the cinema's Bharat Ratna for being the highest honor of the Indian cinema, is presented by the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting under the Directorate of Film Festivals. 

Rajinikanth has been active since 1975 and through his immense contribution to the cinema industry, he has earned a huge reputation across and beyond the borders for displaying the richness in acting and commitment towards the growth of the industry. Besides being one of the highest-paid Indian actors, Rajinikanth will be one among the handful of actors who had earned ardent fans overseas, which captured how he has been celebrated across the globe. 

In 2000, Rajinikanth was honored with the Padma Bhushan award, which is India's third-highest civilian honor and he had received India's second-highest civilian honor Padma Vibhushan in 2016. In the year 2014, he was presented with the 'Centenary Award for Indian Film Personality of the Year' at the 45th International Film Festival of India. Now, he will be receiving Dadasaheb Phalke Award, which is India's highest honor in cinema.
