Music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja has shared a heartfelt message on social media after the tragic death of his friend and colleague Vijay Antony’s daughter, Meera. Meera, who was 16 years old, reportedly took her own life on September 19 at her home in Chennai. The news of her demise has shocked and saddened the entire Tamil film industry, which has been paying tribute to her at Vijay’s residence in Alwarpet.

Yuvan Shankar Raja, who is also the son of music director Ilaiyaraaja, took to X and offered his condolences and support. He wrote a long note, mentioning,  “I am deeply disturbed & saddened about dear Vijay Antony’s loss, as a father myself, I can’t imagine what pain Vijay Antony must be going through now, I pray that The Almighty gives the family the strength to bear this unbearable loss.”

He also expressed his concern over the mental health of many people who may be suffering in silence due to various challenges in life. He urged them to reach out for help and not to lose hope. He quoted a famous quote, writing, “Resilience is tough. It at times can also be painful. Because when you’re in a difficult moment, the bubble of darkness is all that surrounds you,"

"It's like you’re trapped in a place where there are no doors to leave. There’s just a window through which you can see sunlight enter, but through which you can’t exit due to its size. It can be suffocating and difficult. But that window, however small it may be, is a reminder that there is light outside of what you’re experiencing. That ease will follow and that there is hope. Remember: "This too shall pass".

He concluded his message by saying: “Let us as a community stop treating mental health as a taboo subject, let us open up & let us make it easy for others to open up.” Meera’s death has left many people in shock and grief.  Vijay Antony has not yet spoken publicly about his daughter’s death or his own feelings. He is reportedly staying with his family and friends during this difficult time.
