'I never imagined this ever in my life': A R Rahman is on cloud nine after a big honour from Canada!

Legendary musician A R Rahman is on cloud nine after he was conferred with a special honour by the city of Markham, Canada. The Oscar-winning music composer is currently on his North American tour where he has been conducting concerts in the major cities of Canada and the United States. In the midst of his tour, he was moved by a recognition that has turned heads and stamped his musical legacy. 

The city of Markham in Canada has given a special honour to A R Rahman by naming a street after him, which the composer has said he never imagined this honour in his life. The picture of A R Rahman standing next to the signboard of his name has been going viral on social media as a sea of people commend him for what has become the latest attraction of the city. 

A R Rahman has thanked the city of Markham for bestowing a big honour on him. Taking to Twitter, he released a statement in which he wrote, "I never imagined this ever in my life. I am very grateful to all of you, the Mayor of Markham, Canada (Frank Scarpitti) and counsellors, the Indian Consulate General (Apoorva Srivastava) and the people of Canada."

He penned, "The name A R Rahman is not mine. It means merciful. The merciful is the quality of the common God we all have and one can only be the servant of the merciful. So let the name bring peace, prosperity, happiness, and health to all the people living in Canada. God bless you all." 

"I want to thank my brothers and sisters of India for all the love. All the creative people who worked with me, who gave me the inspiration to rise up and celebrate hundred years of cinema; with all the legends included. I am a very small drop in the ocean", he added. Rahman further wrote, "I feel like this gives me immense responsibility to do much more and be inspiring; not to get tired and not to retire...yet, even if I get tired I'll remember that I have more things to do, more people to connect, more bridges to cross."
