In a candid and heartfelt expression of concern, actor Vishal addressed Ms. Priya Rajan, the Mayor of Chennai, and various officers of the Greater Chennai Corporation, questioning the effectiveness of the stormwater drain project and the current state of affairs in the aftermath of the recent rains. The actor, also a concerned citizen, expressed dismay over the worsening conditions and emphasized the need for elected representatives to actively engage in assisting the public.

In a written message on a social media platform, Vishal conveyed his hopes for the safety and well-being of the officials and their families, while simultaneously shedding light on the stark contrast between the conditions faced by citizens and those in positions of power. He wrote, "Dear Ms Priya Rajan (Mayor of Chennai) and to one & all other officers of Greater Chennai Corporation including the Commissioner. Hope you all are safe & sound with your families & water especially drainage water not entering your houses & most importantly hope you have unconditional supply of food & electricity,"

"Just checking as a Voter coz as Citizens living in the same city as you are, we are not in the same position. I wonder if the entire storm water drain project was meant for Singapore or Chennai? Can u pls let us know as we in 2015 came on to the roads to help people in distress but after 8 years it is pathetic to see an even worse condition,"

"We will continue to help this time around also for sure with food supplies & water, but I guess this time would love to see all the representatives of each constituency come out & do the needful & instil hope & help rather than fear & distress. I put my head down in shame as I write to you. Awaiting not a miracle but wat is called DUTY to Citizens. God Bless.".

The actor also shared a video expressing his concerns, recalling the collaborative efforts of the public in 2015 and lamenting the current situation. In the video, he addressed, "I'm not posing this question as an actor; rather, I'm raising it as a concerned voter. It is imperative for all Constituency MLAs in Chennai to actively engage in serving the public. Such involvement instills confidence in the community, particularly when households, including children and the elderly, are grappling with fear,"

"This isn't an accusation with political undertones; instead, I view it as an uncomfortably disheartening situation. The positions held by government officials are crucial, and their active participation is necessary. It's essential for them to work towards aiding the public, given that citizens dutifully pay taxes. It's not a matter of questioning why taxes are paid; people expect officials to extend assistance. Especially during times of crisis, it would be reassuring to see the faces of those in authority."  The video has gained significant traction, resonating with many as it underscores the call for responsible governance and public service.
