Tamil Nadu BJP leader Suriyaa Siva was arrested by the police in Trichy on Thursday- June 23 on the grounds of threatening a bus operator in Trichy. Suriyaa Siva is the son of prominent DMK MP Tiruchi Siva and he has recently joined BJP. The development has caught major attention and a case has been filed against him.

Suriyaa Siva was arrested by police after he had threatened a bus operator in Trichy asking for money after his bus had rammed into his car near Ulundurpet recently. Several BJP cadres had protested in Trichy urging the police to release the apprehended leader and amid such developments, Suriyaa Siva has threatened that he will expose the secrets about the important ministers of DMK and said that the police have filed a false case against him based on the directions from minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi.

He was arrested by the police based on a complaint from Muruganandham (40) from 'Sri Krishna Travels' agency. In the complaint, Muruganandham said,  "I am working for 'Srikrishna Travels' in Trichy. On the night of the 19th, we parked our company-owned bus at the Trichy Central bus stand and were boarding the passengers during which Suriyaa Siva came along with his associates and told the passengers to disembark from the bus."

The complaint further reads, "When I asked him why he was deboarding the passengers, he claimed that on June 11, our bus had rammed into his car. So, Suriyaa Siva asked us to pay Rs 50 lakh and take the bus. He went on to threaten to kill us and he also had hijacked the bus." Muruganandham has requested the police to take action against Suriyaa Siva and his associates and rescue the bus. Based on the complaint, the Cantonment police in Trichy arrested Suriyaa Siva on Thursday.

A case was filed against him and he has been imprisoned in Trichy Central jail. The police had said that Suriyaa Siva was going to Trichy by car from Chennai on June 11 and his car collided with the Krishna Travels bus near Ulundurpet. The travel company had agreed to pay compensation and after reaching Trichy, Suriyaa had forced the agency to pay him the compensation to repair his car. Due to the delay, he came with his associates to the Trichy bus stand on June 19 and found a Krishna Travels bus after which he asked the passengers to get off the bus.

After some time, Suriyaa Siva had allegedly taken another bus from the same travel company. The concerned driver has filed a complaint against Suriyaa Siva following which a case was filed under five sections. Suriyaa Siva was arrested and taken under custody. Following his arrest, several BJP cadres protested against the arrest and Suriyaa Siva said that the arrest has been ployed against him and claimed that he would expose all the secrets against the important DMK Ministers.

He said that he has been falsely accused in the case under the direction of ministers Ponmudi and Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi to support the private bus company. He said, "If my patience is tested, I will expose all the secrets. I am ready to face trial and I will not stop criticizing the DMK." Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai has also slammed the DMK government for the arrest of Suriyaa Siva.

Annamalai took to Twitter and wrote, "There is a fierce rivalry between Chief Minister M K Stalin and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over who is better at making false accusations. We are watching, we are bearing, we are waiting for our time to come. It is not new for the government to fabricate false cases, nor is it new to the BJP volunteers to fall under false accusations in this state. The Tamil Nadu BJP strongly condemns the arrest of brother Suriyaa."
