India sets a global record by reporting the highest global spike of 96,000 fresh COVID-19 cases!

India has been witnessing the peak of the COVID-19 outbreak as the infection rate in the country has been growing faster than any other country in the world. The biggest spikes in India has been pushing it forward to becoming the worst-hit country in the world. 

India has reported 96,551 fresh cases in the last 24 hours till Friday morning 8 am, which had become the highest single-day rise since the outbreak surpassing the previous tally of 95,734 cases that were reported on Thursday. With the current reporting of 96,551 cases, which had become the highest single-day spike in the world in the last 24 hours, India's total tally has crossed 4.5 million by reporting 45,62,414 positive cases so far. 

At the current state, India is two million cases behind the United States, which is the worst-hit country in the world. According to the Union Health Ministry, India has reported 96,551 fresh cases, 70,880 fresh discharges, and 1,209 fresh deaths in the last 24 hours till Friday morning. 

 

The country has reported the biggest spike in the death toll with reporting 1,209 deaths through which the death toll currently stands at 76,271 so far. Though the health ministry stated that the fatality rate in the country is relatively low compared to the caseloads, the nation has been witnessing an upward trend with more than one thousand deaths being reported every day for the last ten days. 

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, India has tested 5,40,97,975 samples so far including 11,63,542 that were tested in the last 24 hours. At the current state, India has 21% of active cases in the total tally and 77% cases in the total caseload have been discharged while the fatality rate stands at 1.70%. 

India is the worst affected country by the pandemic in Asia and the second-worst affected in the world after the United States. India's COVID-19 tally has crossed 20 lakh mark on August 7, while the tally went beyond 30 lakh on August 23, and 40 lakh on September 5.
