IPL 2020: Do you know who are the top ten highest paid players in the current season?

Indian Premier League can't be fit into the mould of just cricket as besides the game, there have been a lot more factors in which the league enjoys wider reach and stronger connection across the country with vast withstanding roots and fanbase. Though being a shorter format of cricket, the league is the celebration for most of the fans in India for its ecstasy, fights, thrillers, excitements, roar of crowds, the battle for rivals, the game of nativity, its theme music, and of course, the wealth of the league. 

These were some of the factors that had driven the league not to skip the current year amid the COVID-19 outbreak. IPL has been one of the major sporting events that would be played even as the Olympic has been deferred for the next year. IPL 2020, which is the 13th edition of the league would be hosted by the United Arab Emirates from September 19 and Chennai Super Kings would take on Mumbai Indians as a tournament opener. 

This year's IPL has many firsts, the first time that the fullest season would be hosted by the foreign country, the first time that the games would be played without the crowds, and the first time that the players would be playing with strict regulations and restrictions. Though the current reason would be missing the fans at the stadiums, it won't be missing the tagline of the world's richest T20 league with rampant circulation and investment of money and wealth and as the first match is just hours away, let's take a look at the top ten highest-paid players in the IPL 2020,

1) Virat Kohli - Royal Challengers Bangalore - Rs 17 crore:

Being dubbed as one of the successful Indian skippers, Virat Kohli's captaincy in RCB would be one of the most tested factors in his cricketing career as Kohli had pushed his fleet forward in previous seasons only to received by the setback and for this season, Virat & Co has been hoping to have a major breakthrough in the IPL and to fulfill the expectations from the fans to make his captaincy in IPL to count in his career. 

2) Pat Cummins (Australia) - Kolkata Knight Riders - Rs 15.5 crore:

Unlike any other overseas players, Pat Cummins is pitching on the field by making a record - becoming the most expensive overseas player in IPL Auction History after he was brought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 15.5 crore. One of the notable seamers, Pat made his entry into IPL through KKR in 2014, and then he went on to play for Delhi Daredevils, Mumbai Indians, and again he has now been inducted to Kolkata Knight Riders. 

3) MS Dhoni - Chennai Super Kings - Rs 15 crore: 

This IPL would be the first premier league for Dhoni after he retired from the International Cricket and it has also been said that this season would be his last IPL season. Keeping the hearsays aside, the Captain Cool has been preparing to lead his fleet of lions with much more hope and determination. Dhoni is the only captain in the IPL history to lead the team since the start of the league and he is also the only captain who had led his team into the finals for eight times in ten years. He is going to battle with his lions to lift the trophy for yet another time. 

4) Rohit Sharma - Mumbai Indians - Rs 15 crore: 

Often called as Hitman, Rohit Sharma's captaincy was hailed by many after he had lifted the trophy in the last year's IPL by defeating the Chennai Super Kings. Under his captaincy, Mumbai Indians have emerged as one of the successful and potential teams in the IPL with the strong rivalry from the Chennai Super Kings. 

5) Rishabh Pant -Delhi Capitals - Rs 15 crore: 

Getting bidded as equal as to MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant has shown his emergence as one of the significant players in the IPL and the Indian Cricket team. Pant has been one of the key players for Delhi capitals since his acquisition in 2016. In 2016, he was bought by Delhi Daredevils for Rs 1.9 crore and he has emerged as one of the trust young batsmen in the team. He rose to fame in 2016 after he guided India into the semi-finals in the U-19 World Cup after he scored a century for India. In four years, he has increased his worth from Rs 1.9 crore to Rs 15 crore. 

6) David Warner (Australia) - Sunrisers Hyderabad - Rs 12.5 crore: 

Warner has been one of the highest-paid overseas players in the IPL and he has been known as one of the most destructive openers across all formats. Being the top-order batsman, Warner has been pivotal in lifting the team from the ailing grounds. Under his name, Warner holds a record for the most runs by an overseas player (4706) with most half-centuries (44) by any overseas player in IPL. Warner has won the Orange Cap (the reward for the highest-run scorer in a season) for three times, more than any other player. 

7) Steven Smith (Australia) - Rajasthan Royals - Rs 12.5 crore: 

As a vibrant and promising player, he has been emerging as one of the star overseas players in the IPL from being a pick to replace the exited and injured players. Smith was first bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2010 and then he went on to play for Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Pune Warriors India following which he was bought by Rajasthan Royals in 2014 and in 2015, he captained the Royals and taken the team to the playoffs. 

8) Sunil Narine (West Indies) - Kolkata Knight Riders - Rs 12.5 crore: 

Sunil Narine has still been holding his magic the balls as he has been one of the notable bowlers and highest-wicket takers in the IPL.  Narine has been reputed as a 'mystery bowler' and he has been playing with the Knight Riders since 2012 and has been game-changers in many matches. 

9) Ben Stokes (England) - Rajasthan Royals - Rs 12.5 crore: 

The English cricketer has been one of the rising all-rounders and in 2017, he was bought by the Rising Pune Supergiants in the IPL for Rs 14.5 crore, one of the highest auctions for the debut player. During the season, he has won the 'Man of the Match' award for the three times in 14 games and he was one of the best performers in IPL 2017 and in 2018, he was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 12.5 crore and he was the most expensive player in the 2018 IPL Auction and he has now been auctioned for the same amount. 

10) AB de Villiers (South Africa) - Royal Challengers Bangalore - Rs 11 crore: 

AB de Villiers has been conferred the recognition of one of the most successful batsmen in the Indian Premier League. Often dubbed as the dangerous player on the court. He was initially playing for Delhi Daredevils and he has now been playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Three of his four T20 centuries have come in the IPL and as of June 2019, he has played in over 150 matches in the league.
