"It is not a blessing for my body but..." Kamal Haasan expresses gratitude for wishes on his 64th year in cinema

Kamal Haasan, the legendary actor and filmmaker, has completed 64 years in the Indian film industry on August 12. The versatile artist, who has donned multiple hats in his illustrious career, took to Twitter to express his gratitude to his fans and colleagues for their constant support and encouragement. He also dedicated his achievement to the many talented people who have inspired him along the way.

Haasan wrote in Tamil, which translates to, “It is a great blessing to wish someone to live for 64 years. It is not a blessing for my body but a blessing for my artistic life, which is a blessing for many more talented people than me. I humbly thank all those who congratulated me. The remaining days are for my people.”

Haasan, who made his debut as a child artist in the 1959 film Kalathur Kannamma, has since acted in over 200 films across various languages and genres. He has also written, directed, produced, and sung for many of his projects, earning him the title of Ulaganayagan among his admirers. He has won numerous awards and accolades, including four National Film Awards, 19 Filmfare Awards, a Padma Shri, and a Padma Bhushan.

He is currently working on the sequel to Indian, titled Indian 2, directed by Shankar. He is also set to star in a sci-fi thriller called Project K, alongside Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan.

Haasan’s birthday was celebrated by his fans and friends from the film industry with much fanfare and enthusiasm. His daughter Shruti Haasan shared a heartfelt post on Twitter, calling him, "The Unparalleled Emperor”. Celebs like Vijay Sethupathi, Karthik Subburaj, and many others also wished him on social media.

Haasan is not only a celebrated artist but also a prominent political figure. He founded his own party, Makkal Needhi Maiam (People’s Justice Centre), in 2018 and contested in the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. He has been vocal about various social and political issues and has advocated for secularism and democracy.
