'It was not a great sign, but they took the momentum': Rohit Sharma after MI entered the final!

IPL 2020 has crossed the difficult path due to the COVID pandemic and successfully reached the playoff stages. It was the first qualifier match where the dominant Mumbai Indians took on the resurging Delhi Capitals as both the teams were looking to win this match and reach the finals directly. Delhi Capitals won the toss and decided to bowl first. Rohit Sharma has disappointed his fans once again by falling for a duck on the first ball that he faced. But the middle order was very steady.

Quinton de Kock and Suryakumar Yadav played aggressively scoring 40 and 51 runs respectively. Ishan Kishan continued his good form and scored 55 runs from 30 balls while Pollard followed his captain and got out for a duck. But the stunning partnership between Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya added 60 runs for the team in the last four overs with Pandya smashing a brutal 37 from 14 deliveries.

The last ball six from Ishan Kishan had taken the Mumbai Indians to a total of 200 runs. Ashwin picked up three wickets but there was no big impact as the DC pacers made MI to thank them with Nortje, Rabada, and Daniel Sams had flawed spells and each of them had accounted for over 40 runs in their four overs. With the massive score on board, DC came to the crease with the hope to have a direct ticket to the final but they only witnessed what they never wished to witness.

The Delhi Capitals' batting line-up seemed to have given up very early as they lost their top 3 batsmen back to back when their scoreboard showed a 0. Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant couldn't do much either and the Delhi team had lost 5 wickets for just 41 runs. It was a very crucial game and they didn't make any serious attempt to control the damage. Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult were lethal in their bowling attack picking up the wickets of all the leading batsmen.

Marcus Stoinis showed some hope scoring 65 runs from 46 balls before getting out bowled to a fantastic delivery from Bumrah. It was a very convincing victory for the Mumbai Indians in the end by a margin of 57 runs and they have comfortably reached the finals of this series. The eliminator between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad is expected to be more interesting as both the teams are similar in their team strength and winning attitude.

Delhi Capitals had conceded the defeat at a crucial time but they are still in the series and they must be working to make the best use of one remaining opportunity to enter the final and to lift the title. DC will be facing either RCB or SRH in qualifier two and if DC wins the qualifier, they would again come face to face with Mumbai Indians.

For Mumbai Indians, they made the season theirs as even they started the series with the loss against CSK, they successfully manage to climb up to the top, and with dominating the league, they now continue their dominance by becoming the first team to enter the final of IPL 2020. MI is the only team that had won the title more times as it had lifted the trophy in 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019 and if they win this year's title, they would the champions for the second consecutive time. With the positive sign, MI fans are hoping that their favorite team will win the title for the fifth time.

Though failing in batting, Rohit Sharma was the happy captain and after the victory, he said, "I said it at the toss as well, we never have any target in mind because we are a different team and we want to play in a different way. We wanted to just take it as it comes. We wanted to start well in the powerplay. Having lost the wicket of myself in the second over was not a great sign. But like I said, Quinton and Surya took the momentum towards us and from there it was just ticking the boxes, rotating the strike. And we knew towards the back end we have power and we can accelerate towards the back end and that's exactly what happened".
