It's happening for the first time in 35 years...Two legends of Tamil Cinema join hands after three decades!

Celebrations are on among the ardent cinephiles over the reunion of the legends, who are joining hands for the first time in 35 years. Yes, you read it right! Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan and iconic director Mani Ratnam are all set to draw a new history as they announce their next project, and indeed their second project after Nayagan, which got released in 1987. 

The fans relish their reunion after three decades as it would set out a new beginning in their career. Earlier, Kamal Haasan has a brief stint working with Mani Ratnam, not in acting, but featuring in the background vocals for the filmmaker's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan. Interestingly, the new project directed by Mani Ratnam would be Kamal Haasan's 234th movie, a historical milestone. 

Kamal Haasan celebrates his 68th birthday on Monday - November 7 and he is certainly a bellwether of the Tamil cinema. The announcement about the new project was made on Sunday and it has been getting shared rampantly. The new project, tentatively titled 'KH 234', will be jointly produced by Kamal Haasan's 'Raajkamal Films International' and Mani Ratnam's 'Madras Talkies', and would be distributed by Udhayanidhi Stalin under his banner 'Red Giant Movies'.

Sharing the announcement on Sunday, Red Giant Movies took to Twitter and wrote, "The two legends are back again after 35 years. Presenting #KH234 written and directed by Mani Ratnam." In what has become a captivating factor, legendary music composer A R Rahman will compose music for this electrifying project. Sharing the same, Kamal Haasan wrote, "Here we go again! #KH234. The next level of the journey."

As the reunion is happening for the first time in 35 years, the fans have gone agog after the announcement and as per the makers, KH 234 will be getting released in 2024. On the other hand, Kamal Haasan is currently busy with the project 'Indian 2' helmed by Shankar and produced by Lyca Productions. On the occasion of his birthday, the movie team released a new poster that has been going viral. 

As Kamal Haasan turned 68 on Monday, millions of fans are extending their birthday wishes to the legendary actor and reminiscing and celebrating his unparalleled contributions to Tamil cinema. From Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, to thousands of actors and celebrities have been gracing their wishes to Ulaga Nayagan.
