It's official: For the fans of Ponniyin Selvan, here's when and where you can watch the movie on OTT!

The great ensemble Cholas are soon to march to the OTT audience while continuing to rule and fill theatres with their performances. The official page of Prime Video, which acquired the film's OTT streaming rights, posted the official release for renting announcement on its social media accounts on Friday. 

As per the announcement, Ponniyin Selvan will be getting streamed on Amazon Prime from November 4. The OTT giant took to Twitter and wrote, "Presenting the much awaited, larger than life, historical action-drama. #PS1onPrime, rent to watch now! Coming to Prime on Nov 4." Ponniyin Selvan is helmed by one of the top Kollywood filmmakers, Mani Ratnam.

The movie has an ensemble cast of Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan played important roles. Ponniyin Selvan 1, the crown jewel of Kollywood, was theatrically released on September 30, 2022, and it became an overnight sensation with shows that were played to astounding housefuls. 

This historical drama is a recent masterpiece that has won the admiration of readers of all ages as well as fans of Maniratnam. Although it had already been reported that Amazon Prime Video had acquired the OTT rights, the announcement that the film will be available for rental on November 4 has now been made official.  

The movie revolves around the Chola dynasty which was prominent in Thanjavur during the tenth century. The protagonist of the tale is Arulmozhi Varman (Jayam Ravi), also known as Ponniyin Selvan, who was the brother of Aditha Karikalan (Vikram) and the movie is based on the king's life and the events that surrounded him. 

A. R. Rahman composed the musical score, and Ravi Varman, A. Sreekar Prasad, and Thota Tharani handled the cinematography, editing, and production design respectively. The budget of this magnum opus is a whopping Rs 500 crores. Ponniyin Selvan is bankrolled by Subaskaran's Lyca Productions and Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies. It has been expected that the second part will hit the screens during the summer of 2023.
