Thalapathy Vijay, one of the biggest stars of Tamil cinema, has announced his next film with director Venkat Prabhu. The announcement was made by AGS Entertainment, the production house behind the blockbuster Bigil, on Sunday. The film, tentatively titled #Thalapathy68, will be AGS’s 25th venture and their second collaboration with Vijay.

Venkat Prabhu, who is known for his stylish and entertaining films like Mankatha, Chennai 600028 and Maanadu, expressed his excitement about working with Vijay for the first time. He already said that he had been trying to do a film with Vijay ever since the release of Mankatha in 2011 and that he was glad that it had finally materialized.

He also posted a snap posing with the actor, writing, "Thanks for the trust @actorvijay na!! And as promised releasing this pic only after the announcement na!! (Pic taken 10 months ago!!!) #thalapathy68 #vp12 YES DREAMS DO COME TRUE".

The film will also mark the reunion of Vijay and music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja after 20 years. They had previously worked together in Puthiya Geethai in 2003. Yuvan is a frequent collaborator of Venkat Prabhu and has scored music for all his films.

Vijay is currently busy with his 67th film, Leo, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film has an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priya Anand, Mysskin and Trisha Krishnan. The film is expected to hit the screens by October this year.
