'It's very close to our hearts, We'll be back': Suriya's sudden announcement and surprise treat to his fans!

In a shock to the ardent fans of actor Surya who have been greatly waiting for the release of 'Soorarai Pottru' on October 30, they are now pushed to keep their wait for some more time as the actor himself had revealed that the progress for the releasing the movie has taken an unanticipated turn and the movie will not be released on October 30.

Soorarai Pottru has largely been expected to be one of the remarkable movies for Actor Surya in his career given the crew and a storyline of the picture. The movie had gone through many challenges from the shooting and to the release and amid the stern objections from the theater owners, Suriya, who is also the producer of the movie, had taken a decision with audacity and announced that the movie would be released on Amazon Prime Video.

Going to the direct OTT release in a bid to reach the audience directly in the wake of indefinite closures of the theaters, Soorarai Pottru would be the first big release in the Tamil Cinema on the OTT platform. The movie's trailer was released earlier this year and ever since it has got major attention as the actor's fans and audiences have been waiting for the movie release. Amid the COVID-19 lockdown, it was officially announced that the movie would be released on Amazon Prime on October 30.

However, exactly eight days before the official date of release, Suriya has made an official announcement on Thursday putting the fact that the movie won't be released on October 30 and it was pushed to defer the date of release. Posting the revelation on social media, Suriya said, "When we started 'Soorarai Pottru' we thought the only challenges we would face will be shooting at never before shot locations, working with people of different languages and bringing in personnel with different skill sets to bring alive the magnificent world of Maara. Though easily said, it was a mammoth task to execute".

The actor said, "As you all know SP (Soorarai Pottru) is a story set in the aviation industry. So we had to deal with numerous procedures and permissions because it's a matter of national security and we were dealing with real Indian Airforce aircrafts and security. A few new NOCs are still pending for approval, and we understand the wait is inevitable as this adverse time is demanding more and more focus on the nation and its priorities, than anything else".

Suriya further stated "Soorarai Pottru is a film very close to our hearts and we feel very passionately for this compelling and inspiring story. Unfortunately, the wait for the film's release will now be a little longer than anticipated. However, what pains me is how eagerly my well-wishers were waiting for this but we seem to have no other option. I personally hope that my well-wishers will take this in good spirit, with love and faith".

When his sudden announcement was headlined, it was a moment of shock to the actor's fans and the audience who were waiting to welcome Maara to their homes. By revealing that the pending approval for NOCs had pushed to defer the movie release, Suriya, on the other hand, had given a surprise treat for his fans by sharing a sneak-peak from a friendship song 'Aagasam Song' in the movie.  In his letter, Suriya said, "We will be back with the trailer and lots more soon. This letter comes with a beautiful 'Friendship Song' which is dedicated to our friendship, love, and affection".

Produced by Suriya and Guneet Monga, Soorarai Pottru is directed by 'Iruthi Suttru' fame Sudha Kongara while GV Prakash Kumar has composed the music. Filmed the real-life story of Captain Gopinath, the founder of India's low-cost airline 'Air Deccan', the movie has roped in some of the reputed faces like Aparna Balamurali, Urvashi, Karunas, Kaali Venkat, and Vivek Prasanna.
