Jailer: Here's how much the Superstar Rajinikanth's actioner bagged on its opening day!

The superstar Rajinikanth is back with a bang! His latest film ‘Jailer’, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, has set the box office on fire with a whopping collection, around Rs 95 crores worldwide collection on its opening day. The film, which is a dark comedy-action thriller, has received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike for its gripping plot, witty dialogues, and stellar performances.

‘Jailer’ has broken several records in its opening day, such as the highest grossing Tamil film in the USA, the highest opening day collection for a Rajinikanth film in Tamil Nadu, and the film is expected to continue its strong run in the coming days and emerge as one of the biggest hits of the year.

Jailer has stormed into the worldwide box office with a bang, setting a new record by claiming a spot among the all-time top 3 opening films in Kollywood. Notably, the first two positions were also seized by the megastar himself, with 2. 0 and Kabali.

The movie's remarkable performance speaks volumes, boasting impressive earnings across various regions. According to film trade reporters, In Tamil Nadu, it amassed a substantial ₹29.46 crore, while making an impactful ₹12.04 crore in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The neighbouring Karnataka region contributed ₹11.92 crore, while in Kerala, "Jailer" garnered ₹5.38 crore. Beyond the borders of India, the film showcased its global appeal with ₹32.75 crore from reported overseas locations.

‘Jailer’ revolves around Muthuvel Pandian, a retired jailer who goes on a rampage to avenge his son’s death at the hands of a ruthless gangster. Rajinikanth plays the lead role while Vinayakan, Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi, and Sunil play supporting roles. The film also features cameo appearances by Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff, and Shiva Rajkumar.

The film has been praised for its clever writing, unique sense of humour, and fan service by Nelson Dilipkumar, who is known for his previous films like ‘Beast’ and ‘Kolamavu Kokila’. The music by Anirudh Ravichander is another highlight of the film, with songs like ‘Kaavaalaa’ and ‘Jailoraa’ becoming chartbusters.
