'Kamal Haasan's advice after Vikram's success': An open talk from Lokesh Kanagaraj!

With an amazing track record in the Tamil cinema industry, director Lokesh Kanagaraj is on cloud nine amid celebrating the blockbuster success of his latest movie 'Vikram' in which he directed Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan and an ensemble cast. Vikram was released on June 3 in the theatres and had a stupendous reception from across and beyond the borders.

As the movie is running successfully into its third week with overwhelming crowds in the theatres, the movie team has on Friday - June 17 organized a success meet, which had the attendance of Kamal Haasan, Lokesh Kanagaraj, Vikram's music director Anirudh, Udhayanidhi Stalin and several crew members. Speaking at the event that has attracted huge attention, Lokesh Kanagaraj has opened up about the advice that he got from Kamal Haasan.

The young director said, "Kamal sir has given me this movie. Beyond being the movie that is produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, I was directing an actor by whom I got inspired. So, the direction can't be done lightly. I have to thank the lockdown as I have earned more time to write the script. Kamal sir has given me full independence in the movie."

He further said, "While I was giving interviews for the YouTube channels for the movie promotions, Kamal sir was promoting the movie in various states. Kamal sir could have gone to some other state for the promotion in the time when I was going to various channels for interviews. While we were sleepless during our post-production works, Kamal sir was sleepless in the promotions work."

"What I have learned from Kamal sir is the level of sincerity we must have in the cinema", Lokesh Kanagaraj added and opened up about Kamal Haasan's advice to him after the movie's success. The director said, "Kamal sir has called me and spoken with me for thirty minutes after the movie has become a blockbuster hit. He told me that the movie is successful and my work is over and asked me to go to the office immediately and start writing the story for the next movie."

Lokesh Kanagaraj stated that Kamal Haasan has advised him not to take any breaks and start working on the next movie. The 36-year-old director said, "I am taking his (Kamal's) advice as a lesson. The success of Vikram has given me more responsibility. With that responsibility, I am starting my work for the next movie." Vikram has been doing well at the box office and had entered the club of Rs 300 crore. It has also been reported that by grossing Rs 250 crore in seven days, Vikram has become the second movie after Rajinikanth's '2.0' to touch such an impressive feat.

Kamal Haasan is back on the big screens after four years. His last movie was Vishwaroopam 2. While Lokesh Kanagaraj has helmed the movie, it is bankrolled by Kamal Haasan under his own banner Raaj Kamal Films International. While Kamal Haasan plays the lead role, Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, Arjun Das, Narain, Harish Uthaman, Kalidas Jayaram, Antony Varghese, Shivani Narayanan, and Ramesh Thilak had played important roles. Actor Suriya has won hearts through his cameo appearance. Anirudh has composed the music and the movie has been made on the budget of Rs 80 crore.
