Kanguva: Suriya brushes with danger while filming! Here's what happened

Suriya, the star of the upcoming historical epic ‘Kanguva’, had a narrow escape from a serious accident on the sets of the film. The actor was shooting a crucial scene when a rope camera lost control and crashed on his shoulder, causing him pain and injury.

The film, directed by Siruthai Siva, is in its final stages of production and the team has been working hard to wrap up the shoot. The makers have built a grand set at a film city in Chennai, where they have been filming some of the major sequences of the film.

According to sources, the incident happened when Suriya was performing a stunt and a rope camera was used to capture the action. However, due to some technical glitch, the camera got detached from the rope and fell on Suriya’s shoulder. The actor was immediately rushed to the medical team on the spot and given first aid.

Fortunately, Suriya escaped a major injury as the camera missed his head by a few inches. The shooting was halted after the accident and the team is waiting for Suriya’s recovery. Suriya’s fans have been expressing their concern and prayers for the actor on social media and hoping that he will be back in action soon. The extent of Suriya’s injury is not yet known and the makers have not issued any official statement on the matter.

‘Kanguva’ is one of the most anticipated films of the year and features Suriya in multiple roles, directed by Siva and written by Adi Narayana. The film is produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja, V. Vamsi Krishna Reddy and Pramod Uppalapati under the banners of Studio Green and UV Creations.

The film stars Suriya in five roles, leading an ensemble cast that includes Disha Patani (in her Tamil debut), Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Kovai Sarala, Anandaraj, Ravi Raghavendra, K. S. Ravikumar and B. S. Avinash. The premise reveals that the film revolves around a warrior named Arathar Venkaater who lived in 1678 and died due to a mysterious disease.

The film has music by Devi Sri Prasad, cinematography by Vetri Palanisamy and editing by Nishadh Yusuf. Made on a budget of ₹350 crore (US$44 million), Kanguva is the fifth most expensive Indian film to date. The film is scheduled to be released theatrically in early 2024 in 2D as well as 3D formats. The film will also be dubbed and released in multiple languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and English.
