Karnataka Congress party's working president passes away at 62 due to cardiac arrest: Leaders pay tribute!

In the midst of beefing up its campaign trail in the poll-bound Karnataka, the state unit of the Congress party has had an appalling piece of news on Saturday - March 11 as the party's working president Dhruvanarayan has passed away due to cardiac arrest. After learning about his demise, several state and national Congress leaders have been paying tribute to the deceased and expressing condolences to the bereaving family.

Dhruvanarayan was the Karnataka Congress Committee's working president and he suffered a cardiac arrest at his residence in Mysuru. He was immediately rushed to DRM Hospital in Mysuru. However, he had breathed his last at the age of 62. Dr Manjunath, who is attached to the hospital, said, "He suffered chest pain and his driver picked him up at 6.40 am. But he didn't survive." 

Dhruvanarayan was declared dead at 8.28 am on Saturday. An M.Sc graduate, he is survived by his wife and two sons. Dhruvanarayan represented the Chamarajanagar Lok Sabha constituency twice and in the 2004 Karnataka Assembly polls, he won from the Santemarahalli constituency by a single vote. As Karnataka is heading for the assembly polls in months, he was planning to contest from Nanjangud reserved constituency.

Being the working president of the party, Dhruvanarayan was actively working on ground ahead of the assembly polls and when the party leaders learned about his demise, they were taken aback. Calling Dhruvanarayan's death a huge loss to the party, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that Dhruvanarayan was a hard-working and humble grassroots leader and also a champion of social justice.

Taking to Twitter, Rahul Gandhi wrote, "Saddened by the sudden demise of former MP, Shri R Dhruvanarayan. A hard-working & humble grassroots leader, he was a champion of social justice who rose through the ranks of NSUI & Youth Congress. His passing is a huge loss to the Congress party. My condolences to his family." 

Former Chief Minister of Karnataka and sitting Opposition leader Siddaramaiah took to Twitter and wrote, "I am shocked by the fortunate & untimely demise of Karnataka Congress leader, former MP & my dear friend Shri R Dhruvanarayan. My deepest condolences to his family members and well wishers."
