The music director and actor Vijay Antony’s daughter Meera, who was pursuing her 12th standard in a reputed school in Chennai, reportedly committed suicide at her home in Alwarpet on Tuesday morning. The 16-year-old girl was found hanging from the ceiling of her bedroom by her parents around 3 am. The police have registered a case of accidental death and are investigating the matter.
Meera was a bright and cheerful student and she had a close bond with her father, who is one of the most popular and respected composers and lyricists in Tamil cinema. The news of Meera’s death has come as a shock to the film industry and Vijay Antony's fans, who have been expressing their condolences and sympathy on social media.
Many celebrities from the industry, such as director Venkat Prabhu, Karthik Subburaj Sarath Kumar, Singer Chinmayi, Gautham Karthik and others have taken to X to share their grief and pay tribute to the young starlet. Actor Gautham Karthik shared his condolence by taking to X on Tuesday.
He wrote, "My deepest condolences to brother @vijayantony and his family... Truly shocking to hear this... I pray that God gives your family strength during this time. I'm so sorry for your loss. May she rest in peace... #RIP",
Venkat Prabhu penned, "Woke up to this shocking news! Deepest condolences Vijay Antony Saar and family RIP Meera". Vijay Antony has not yet commented on his daughter’s death, but sources say that he is devastated by the loss of his only child. He is next to seen in Ratham, directed by CS Amudhan. The police have registered a case of accidental death and are investigating the matter further.
Vijay Antony is a popular music composer, producer, actor and filmmaker in Tamil cinema. Vijay Antony was born in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu. He has a younger sister. He is married to Fathima Vijay Antony, who is also a film producer. They have two daughters, Meera and Lara.
