Khushbu's new challenge to Udhayanidhi Stalin: Is the DMK leader ready?

As Tamil Nadu is just four months ahead of the assembly polls, the state political parties have been preparing for the legislative elections, and amid the stronghold of both the Dravidian parties, the Central ruling party has been hoping to strengthen its base in the state and to have a powerful breakthrough. Armed with some of the popular Tamil celebrities in its camp, the BJP has been working to have a victorious election.

Veteran actor Khusbhu has recently joined the BJP and she has been emerging as one of the star campaigners of the Central ruling party. The actor turned politician has been touring Chennai and campaigning for the party. On Saturday, Khusbhu had toured Pudupet in Chennai where she met the people in her drive of drawing support from them to the BJP ahead of the polls.  During her tour, the actor flayed the opposition DMK and directly challenged DMK Youth Wing Secretary Udhayanidhi Stalin whether he is ready to contest against her in the legislative elections.

Khusbhu was recently appointed as the in-charge of the BJP of the Chepauk-Thiruvallikenni legislative constituency in Chennai and it has been speculated that she would be contesting from this constituency with the BJP ticket in the legislative election. The actor turned politician has on Saturday attended the party event in Pudupet, Chennai where she hoisted the party flag and addressed the local people.

She also had met the people and appealed to them to cast their vote for the BJP and while addressing the reporters, she said that the BJP is still in alliance with the state ruling ADMK. However, she pressed the party's stand that the NDA will be deciding on who will be the Chief Ministerial candidate of the alliance and added that the controversy surfaced around the CM candidate will come to an end in four to five days.

Taking a jibe against DMK's Youth wing leader Udhayanidhi Stalin, Khushbu challenged Stalin's political heir that he is ready to contest against her in the assembly polls. By asserting that she is ready to contest against Udhayanidhi Stalin, she asked if he is ready to contest against her. Khushbu's assertion has come at a high time when the drift between the ADMK and BJP over the CM candidate is yet to be fixed.

The BJP has been observing alliance with the ADMK in Tamil Nadu since the 2019 Lok Sabha polls and with the major debacle in the national election, both the parties are mulling to finish big in the assembly polls, the first state election since the demise of political giants Karunanidhi and Jayalalithaa. Despite being a part of the alliance, the BJP is hoping to steer the election with its formula of sharing the power in the state along with the ADMK.

The Tamil Nadu BJP leaders had also claimed that the Central leadership of the national ruling party will announce the CM candidate of the alliance by claiming that Edappadi Palaniswami is the CM candidate of the ADMK party and not for the alliance. As the election nears, the BJP has been tightening its stand of taking part in the rule and BJP's claim has stirred controversy across the state and among the ADMK leaders. Khushbu had also pressed that the NDA will announce the CM candidate in four to five days. The claim of the Chief Ministerialship from both the parties had triggered uncertainty in the alliance ahead of the polls.
