From L Murugan to Khushbu...A look into the list of possible BJP candidates for TN Polls!

Exactly a day after inking the deal with the Tamil Nadu ruling ADMK over the seat-sharing for the upcoming state assembly polls, the Central ruling BJP has initiated the drive to select the candidates to field them in the legislative election, which is just one month away. On Friday, ADMK had sealed the deal with BJP after the episodes of hectic parleys and negotiations and offered twenty assembly seats and Kanyakumari Lok Sabha seat for the by-poll.

Tamil Nadu will be going for the single-phase poll on April 6 and the votes will be counted on May 2 during which the results would be announced. As the clock is ticking for the crucial polls, the political parties in the state are in the intense process of finalizing the talks with the allied parties to draw an alliance. The state ruling ADMK had signed a deal with PMK and BJP by offering 23 and 20 assembly seats respectively.

On Saturday, while ADMK and BJP are yet to begin the talks of finalizing the constituencies, the reports close to the development had released a presumptive list of constituencies where BJP is aiming to contest. The list had shown that the Central ruling party has picked the constituencies from across the state and aims to field notable faces from top leaders and celebrities. Though the list wasn't an official release from the party, it highly likely that these constituencies will be bagged by BJP from ADMK.

According to reports of the presumptive list of BJP candidates for the upcoming polls, Tamil Nadu BJP President L Murugan will be contesting from Rasipuram, Namakkal District, state Vice President Annamalai will be contesting from Kinathukadavu, Coimbatore district, Vanathi Srinivasan will be fielded from South Coimbatore constituency, Actor turned politician Khushbu will be contesting from Chepauk-Triplicane constituency in Chennai, and Nayinar Nagendran will be contesting from Tirunelveli.

Some of the other candidates include actor turned politician Gautami will be contesting in the Rajapalayam constituency, Virudhunagar, KT Raghavan will get a ticket to contest in the Mylapore constituency in Chennai, H Raja will be contesting from Karaikudi, Kesavan will be contesting from Kancheepuram, Chakravarthy from Thiruttani constituency, Karvendhan will be contesting from Palani, Dindigul district, Elumalai will be awarded a ticket to contest from Chidambaram, Prem Duraisamy will be contesting from Athur, Thanigaivel from Tiruvannamalai constituency, Karthikayini will be contesting from Vellore, Sivamuruga Adthithan will be contesting from Tuticorin, and Vinoj Selvam will be contesting from Chennai Port.

The presumptive list of candidates had shown that the BJP had selected 17 assembly seats out of 20 and the Central ruling party will be demanding these constituencies from ADMK. While the party is surfaced with the presumptive list of candidates, it has picked its candidate for the Lok Sabha by-poll for the Kanyakumari constituency which will be taking place on April 6. On Saturday, BJP announced former Union Minister Pon. Radhakrishnan as the candidate for the Kanyakumari Lok Sabha by-poll.

The presumptive list of candidates has come to light one day ahead of Amit Shah's visit to Tamil Nadu. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be visiting Kanyakumari on Sunday to campaign in support of Pon. Radhakrishnan for the Lok Sabha by-poll. It has been expected that Amit Shah will also hold talks with the ADMK to finalize the constituencies as the state is steadfastly approaching the polls. Let's take a look at the election schedule in Tamil Nadu.
