A landlord in Chennai was stabbed to death for asking rent, accused detained!

In a shocking incident amid the lockdown, a 21-year-old man living in Chennai has jabbed the landlord to death following a spat of demanding to pay the rent that has been outstanding for the last four months.

According to the reports, 21-year-old Ajith was living with his parents in a rented house that belongs to Gunasekaran in Kundrathur, Chennai. Ajith was working as a mechanic and driver and was paying rent of Rs 4000 per month. Gunasekaran (52) is a former bank employee and he has rented out a part of his two-portion house to Ajith and his parents. As the tenants had the rent outstanding, Gunasekeran had, on Wednesday, gone to Ajith's family and demanded them to pay rent. Later, their conversation has burst out into an argument. Ajith's parents were alone in the home during which he demanded them to pay the rent.

Ajith's parents informed him about the incident when he came home and on Thursday, Ajith went to Gunasekeran's home around the afternoon and he was under the influence of alcohol. When he visited Gunasekaran, the latter asked Ajith and his parents to vacate his home immediately. However, they had an altercation during their discussion.

Following the melee, Ajith had gone into Gunasekeran's house and picked a knife from the kitchen and reportedly stabbed him. After being jabbed, Gunasekeran came out of the house to save himself. However, he got slipped and stumbled on the road. Ajith came near to him and continuously stabbed him in his head and abdomen.

Gunasekaran has died on the spot and Ajith dragged the body and kept before the entrance of the deceased house following which he fled the spot. After being informed about the incident, the local police had visited the spot and recovered the body. The body was sent to the government hospital in Chrompet, Chennai for performing the autopsy.
