Legendary director Bharathiraja is hospitalized in Chennai...Here's what happened!

Legendary director Bharathiraja (80) on Tuesday - August 23 got hospitalized in Chennai after he complained of health discomforts. He has been getting treated at a private hospital in T Nagar in the city and he will remain in the hospital for a few days.

After learning about the sudden hospitalization, several fans and fraternities have been expressing their wishes to the veteran for a speedy recovery. Last week, Bharathiraja was in Madurai when he had shown apparent signs of his health discomfort. He suddenly fainted at the airport after which he extended his stay in Madurai for a recovery.

He then returned to Chennai and was taking rest and medications in his residence in Neelankarai on the outskirts of Chennai. After monitoring his health, the doctors advised him to get admitted to the hospital for better treatments. It has been reported that he has been suffering from fever, dehydration, and digestive problems.

Based on the advice, the director was moved to the hospital on Tuesday and he is currently been monitored by a team of doctors. While the hospital is yet to issue an official statement concerning Bharathiraja's health condition, the reports say that the director will be in the hospital at least for two days. Prominently known for presenting a slew of iconic movies to the Tamil Cinema, Bharathiraja has been a household name from across and beyond the borders.

Directed over 40 movies, Bharathiraja is currently busy featuring in the movies in supporting roles. On the work front, he was last seen in the movie 'Thiruchitrambalam', which was released on August 18. Dhanush played the lead role while Bharathiraja, Nithya Menon, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Raashi Khanna, and Prakash Raj played important roles. It was directed by Mithran Jawahar and Anirudh composed the music.
