Living in Tamil Nadu (Tamizh Naadu)? Practice these new district names!

The state of Tamil Nadu (Tamizh Naadu) had seen various alterations on the names of districts, towns, villages, and important places as the state government has released the order of replacing Tamizh names to the existing English names of the places with their precise English pronunciations.

The order has come into effect on Wednesday evening while the state is reeling with the exponential rise of COVID-19 cases with having rapid spread across the state.

According to the order, the government has replaced the names of 1,018 places that had the English-way of pronunciations, and now these places would be called, written, and referred with their new names, which, for many, came as the combination of surprise and commotion.

Now, this would be the last time we write as Coimbatore, as the district would now be referred to as 'Koyampuththoor', and Vellore is no more Vellore as it has been replaced with 'Veeloor'. Are you living in Tuticorin? then, you must describe your district as 'Thooththukkudi', and for Tiruvarurians, your name has been re-christened as 'Thiruvaroor' so does for Pudukottai, which goes by its new name 'Puthukkottai'.

Villupuram was made history by its new name 'Vizhuppuram' and Arani has been replaced by 'Aarani'. For people in Dharmapuri, you should practice writing 'Tharumapuri' and Ariyalur has become Aariyaloor. As per the order, Vedaranyam shall be called 'Vetharanyam' and Attur has been renamed as 'Aathoor' while Puducherry would be referred to as 'Puthucherry'.

The places in the state's capital Chennai haven't hold exceptional as they have got new names as per their English pronunciations. Most of us living in the city would have wondered the name-cause of Poonamallee and for them, the name is in history as it has been replaced with 'Poovirunthavalli', like how it's been called in Tamil, and Mylapore is no longer be called as Mylapore as it has been renamed as 'Mayilaappoor' and Saidapet has become 'Saithaappettai' while Guindy park would be called as 'Gindi Poonga'.

Living in Ambattur, practice saying it as 'Ambaththoor' while Ekkaduthangal has been re-christened as 'Eekkattuththaangal'. The Tamizh Naadu government has unveiled the new names for 1,018 such places across the state by finding exact pronunciations at a crucial time when the state is desperately finding for the answer and a cure to battle and combat the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic, as the spread has been posing a huge threat to the lives.
