Looking Back at 2022: Popular people who made us mourn this year!

Given the nature of 2022, enough people have died across all categories of celebs. These losses have harmed our hearts irreparably. The deaths of these icons, from the greatest musicians to the most highly regarded popular figures, have left voids that can never be filled. Here we look back on the passing of a few individuals whose absence has been keenly felt. May they rest in peace.

Lata Mangeshkar:

She was known by the monikers "Queen of Melody," "Nightingale of India," and "Voice of the Millennium" for her incredible singing ability. She sang in the films' background and also wrote songs for them. Many people in India consider her to be the best singer ever. At the age of 92, Mangeshkar passed away on February 6, 2022, due to multiple organ dysfunction syndromes. She had been receiving treatment for pneumonia and COVID-19 on a regular basis, and she was possibly the most well-known Indian to pass away in 2022.

Sidhu Moosewala:

On May 29, 2022, Sidhu Moosewala, aka Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, was fatally shot in the Mansa district of Punjab. Moosewala and his two companions were killed in the Mansa village of Jawahar Ke while driving a jeep. A group of six gunmen ambushed his car and opened fire on him. Murder suspect Goldy Brar, a Canadian member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, initially claimed responsibility for the attack. Moose Wala's brief career spanned only four years, but during that time he penned several potent lyrics that examined the present status of Punjab. His music drew attention to what some see as the dark side of the state, including a dark gangster culture, widespread corruption, and high rates of unemployment.

Shizo Abe:

Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe passed away in hospital after being shot at a campaign rally. Identified as Tetsuya Yamagami, the suspect admitted to shooting Abe with a homemade gun and stated he had a grudge against a "specific organisation," according to the police report. However, the 67-year-old's condition was worsened after he was reported to be conscious and responsive in the minutes following the attack. Abe is the grandson of former Prime Minister Nobusuke Kishi and a member of a prominent political family in Tokyo. He was the first prime minister of Japan born in postwar times.

Queen Elizabeth II:

Queen Elizabeth II, the highest monarch in British history and the country's representational leader for seven decades, passed away on September 8, 2022 at the age of 96. After ascending to the throne in 1952, the Queen presided over dramatic societal shifts. Starting with Winston Churchill in 1952 and ending with Ms. Truss in 2022, she oversaw the terms of 15 different prime ministers. Following the news of her death, thousands of people gathered for mourning in front of Buckingham Palace. The funeral service for the head of state was held at Westminster Abbey on September 19th.

Singer Krishnakumar Kunnath (KK):

On May 31 in Kolkata, after a live performance, the legendary Bollywood singer KK (Krishnakumar Kunnath) passed away. After his Tuesday performance at Nazrul Manch, KK reportedly suffered a fall down the hotel stairs where he was staying. His death was confirmed at the Calcutta Medical Research Institute at 10:30 p.m. (CMRI). KK sang in a number of Indian languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, and Assamese. Strawberry Kanne (Minsara Kanavu), Uyirin Uyire (Kaakha Kaakha), Ninaithu Ninaithu (7G Rainbow Colony), Appadi Podu (Ghilli), Neeye Neeye (M. Kumaran), and so on are all songs that this famous singer has contributed to popular albums in Tamil.

 

Salim Ghouse:

On April 28, 2022, the actor who was best known for playing villainous roles in South Indian films died of cardiac arrest in Mumbai. Ghouse made his acting debut in the 1978 film Swarg Narak and has since appeared in a wide variety of films, including Chakra (1981), Saaransh (1984), and Mohan Joshi Hazir Ho! (1984). Ghouse has also made notable appearances in the movies Manthan, Kalyug, Trikal, Aghaat, Drohi, Thiruda Thiruda, Sardari Begum, Koyla, Soldier, and Aks, among others. And he became well-known in Tamil cinema after his antagonist role in Velayutham, which starred Vijay.

T. Rama Rao:

Filmmaker Tatineni Rama Rao lived in India. Between 1966 and 2000, he helmed seventy-five films in Hindi and Telugu. Naan Sigappu Manithan, Dhill, Youth, Arul, and a few others were among the Tamil films he produced under the Sri Lakshmi Productions label. On April 20, 2022, the veteran director and producer passed away in Chennai, d ue to age-related illness. His age was given as 83. He also  collaborated with a wide variety of India's most famous actors and actresses, including Amitabh Bachchan, Sridevi, NTR, and ANR.

Bamba Bakya:

Maniratnam's Ponniyin Selvan 1 featured the final recording of popular singer Bamba Bakya, for  Ponni Nadhi in Tamil. Simtaangaran from Sarkar and Pullinangal from 2.0 were also sung by him. On the evening of Thursday, September 1, 2016, the famous singer passed away. He was 49 then. Bamba Bakya reportedly died in the hospital after being admitted with chest pain. His birth name was Bhakkiyaraj, but he got the prefix "Bamba" when AR Rahman requested he imitate the style of South African singer Bamba.

Cyrus Mistry:

On September 4, 2022, an unfortunate accident took the life of Cyrus Pallonji Mistry, the sixth chairman of the Tata Group, an Indian business conglomerate. Three members of the Pandole family, including Mistry, were killed instantly when their car crashed into a road diverter on a bridge between Udvada and Mumbai after a visit to the Iranshah Atash Behram. Based on data from the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Mistry was worth nearly $29 billion at the time of his death, making him one of India's wealthiest individuals. He was also a member of the National Integration Council (NIC).

Nellai Kannan:

On August 18, 2022, due to health complications, Nellai Kannan, a famous literary speaker and bar judge in Tamil Nadu, passed away. He was at the age of 78. Tirunelveli native Nellai Kannan was well-known for his stage Tamil debates and had close ties to notable figures in Tamil Nadu, such as Kamarasar and Kannadasan. Nellai Kannan is a brilliant orator who can discuss any work of literature, including the Kamba Ramayana, from its beginning to its conclusion. He was often called "Tamilkadal" because his free-flowing Tamil was as smooth as an ocean. He was also honoured with the Elangovadigalar Award.

Mulayam Singh Yadav:

Mulayam Singh Yadav, founder of the Samajwadi Party, died at the age of 82 after spending the past month in the hospital for a illness. The SP leader passed away at 8:15 a.m. on October 10 at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. His wife had died 93 days prior to his passing, also at the same hospital. With a political career spanning over 60 years, he held the positions of Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for three terms and Minister of Defense for the Government of India.

Pradeep Kottayam:

In 2022 on February 17th, actor K.R. Pradeep, also known as Kottayam Pradeep, passed away from a heart attack in this city. He lived to be 61 years old. Pradeep, a native of the Kottayam neighbourhood of Kumaranalloor, made his acting debut in the Malayalam play "Eswaran arrestil", directed by the actor N.N. Pillai, when he was only ten years old. He also played a significant role in Goutham Vasudev Menon's 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaya.' In 2020, the film 'Papam cheyyathavar kalleriyatte' was released, marking the end of Pradeep's filmography. Pradeep has appeared in more than 60 films, including the critically acclaimed Thattathin Marayathu and the hilarious Amen, Oru Vadakkan Selfie, where his signature brand of dialogue delivery and comedic timing made him a fan favourite.

Ghattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna - Mahesh Babu's Father:

On Tuesday, November 15 at the age of 79, veteran and ace Tollywood superstar actor Krishna passed away. He had a heart attack and passed out. In addition to receiving the Padma Bhushan in 2009 and the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997, he also won the Best Actor Nandi Award for his performance in 'Alluri Sita Rama Raju.' The last Tamil film he appeared in was Thandavam (2012), starring Vikram. Losing his brother Ramesh Babu in January, his mother in September, and now his superstar father Krishna Ghattamaneni has made this a difficult year for actor Mahesh Babu.

Raju Srivatsav:

Gajodhar, whose real name was Raju Srivastav, was a famous Indian comedian, actor, and politician. Raju Srivastav had a heart attack on the treadmill at the gym on August 10, 2022, after complaining of chest pain. And he passed away in the early hours of September 21, 2022, while getting treatment in Delhi. Since 2014, he had been an active member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. People often referred to him as "the king of comedy," and they said he looked like Amitabh Bachchan.
