An ADMK MLA in Tamil Nadu has now become a trendsetter and drawn welcoming attention from the party and the state for breaking the caste lines and doing an inter-caste marriage after he tied the knot with the woman he loved, amid the strong prevalence of the grounds that oppose and castigate the inter-caste marriage in the state.
According to reports, Prabhu has been serving as an ADMK MLA representing the Kallakurichi constituency in the state and besides being an MLA, he entered the assembly with a rare identity that is uncommon among the rest of the legislators - he is unmarried and it was an unusual factor that the assembly is housing an unmarried legislator from the ruling party.
Prabhu was in a relationship with a college student, who belongs to a different caste, and the duo had got married on Monday in the presence of close relatives. The marriage had held at Prabhu's house and it was attended by both the families and relatives.
Following the marriage, the ADMK leaders have been congratulating the newlyweds as he has become the talk of the town for the inter-caste marriage, which still finds to get seeded in the state amid the dominance of caste.
Prabhu was nominated as the party's candidate in the 2016 legislative polls from Kallakurichi constituency by the then Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. He won the elections and entered the assembly and he has been one of the leaders who demanded Jayalalithaa to announce Kallakurichi as a separate district. Later, the government had pay heed to his demand as current Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami has mapped Kallakurichi as the new district.
Prabhu was one of the leaders who apparently backed TTV Dhinakaran when the ADMK party was drifted into two factions after the demise of Jayalalithaa. Later, he had met Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami and showed his support for the ruling government. According to reports, his marriage had happened as a simple ceremony where no top leaders of the party had attended. The reports say that he would soon meet the Chief Minister to receive his blessings for his marriage.
Prabhu (35) is a B.Tech graduate and the youngest legislator in the current assembly. He took to social media and shared the wedding photos. In his official Facebook handle, Prabhu said, "With the blessings of Almighty, I married the girl whom I loved in the presence of our parents. Since it is the Corona period, we cannot invite all friends, well-wishers, and party administrators". Wishes have been pouring in for the newlyweds as many commend the couple for breaking the caste lines and doing inter-caste marriage.
