Ilaiyaraaja has been composing music for three eras and he is unstoppable amid more young contenders on the ground. Known befittingly as Maestro, Ilaiyaraaja was the mastermind behind over 7000 songs and has been instrumental in nurturing the musical heritage. He began his musical journey in Tamil cinema by scoring for 'Annakili' in 1976 and from then on, he has worked in over 1000 movies. 

The magic of Maestro's music is now stepping beyond the borders and making other linguistic people listen to his tunes as he has scored music for a Hollywood film, 'A Beautiful Breakup'. The movie has been slated for release on September 7, 2022. The film is based on a romantic thriller story, set in London and in India and it has about 30 original soundtracks. 

Ilaiyaraaja collaborates with this international project helmed by an Indo-English team of passionate filmmakers. 'A Beautiful Breakup' is an upcoming Indo-English film marking the debut of actors Krish & Matylda in lead roles. While it is directed by Ajithvasan Uggina, a UK-based production house 5 Natures Movies International bankrolls the project. The cinematography of the film is done by Gunahsekar KR while 'KGF' fame, Srikanth Gowda, who received the Karnataka state award, has taken care of the editing.

VG Rajen, who worked on the sound effects of KGF, is also part of the technical team. Interestingly, this movie will be the 1422nd film for the Maestro. With Maestro Ilaiyaraaja’s magical music, 'A Beautiful Breakup' sets out to show another dimension to a couple’s breakup/love story. Ilaiyaraaja has created a magical original soundtrack at the Bow Tie Symphony Orchestra for the film, the makers said in a press statement. It is pertinent to note that Ilaiyaraaja himself had said in an earlier interview that ‘A Beautiful Breakup’ was a challenging project.

The movie has already won some prestigious awards including Best Background Music at the '12th Dadasaheb Phalke Film Festival Awards' and also won Best Picture for 'Srikanth Kandala' in the Best Visual Effects (VFX) category. It has also partaken in some international film festivals and has been selected as the best film. The song 'Come Free Me' from the movie 'A Beautiful Break Up' composed by Ilayaraja was released on World Music Day on June 21, 2022. Adding to this, Music legend Ilaiyaraaja has won the Best Original Score award at the Amsterdam International Film Festival.
