The excavation at Keezhadi is currently in its sixth phase and it has been carried out by the Tamil Nadu Archeological department. On Tuesday, it has unearthed the skeletal remains of the second child and according to the reports, the remains of two children have been sent to the Madurai Kamaraj University for further examination to ascertain its history. These remains were found in Konthagai near Keezhadi.

The skeletal remains of the first child were found on June 19 and it measured 75 centimeters while the second one that was exhumed on Tuesday measured 95 centimeters in length. The remains have been handed over to the varsity and the archeological experts will analyze the age, history, sex, and other information of the skeletal remains. The reports say that the sixth phase of excavation has unearthed about 12 burial urns so far and these remains were found in four of these 12 urns.

The sixth phase has begun in February 2020 and it has been covering three neighboring villages of Keezhadi - Agaram, Manalur, and Konthagai. The first three phases of excavations were done by the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) and the fourth and fifth phases were carried out by the Tamil Nadu State government and it has also been carrying out the sixth and the current phase which would run till September.

According to the reports, Konthagai was said to be the burial of the Keezhadi civilization, which dates back 2,600 years. The previous phases had unearthed the precious items and findings including pots, earthenware, and carved stones which were used by the ancient Tamil people in the banks of the Vaigai river which revealed that Tamil civilization had a possible connection with Indus Valley civilization as it runs back to much more years than what has been recorded currently.
