Major shock for ADMK...Party's former MLA joins DMK!

In a major shock to the ADMK, the party's former MLA has joined its rival DMK on Sunday, two days after DMK has formed the new government in Tamil Nadu by outsing Edappadi Palaniswami's regime. The former legislator has officially joined the DMK after meeting Senthil Balaji, the sitting Minister for Electricity.

According to reports, Geetha Manivannan had won the 2016 assembly polls in the ADMK's ticket from the Krishnarayapuram constituency in the Karur district. She rose to be one of the important ADMK leaders in the district. However, the current ADMK  leadership had refused a ticket for her to contest again in the 2021 polls.

The ADMK had fielded Muthukumar in the recently-held elections in the Krishnarayapuram constituency post which Geetha Manivannan had developed a dissent against the party's leadership. On DMK's side, K Sivakamasundari had contested in the seat and eventually had won the race by defeating ADMK's Muthukumar by a margin of over 30,000 votes.

Sivakamasundari has secured 96,540 votes while Thanesh has ended up getting 64,915 votes. On the front of vote sharing, DMK has garnered 53.37% while ADMK has got 35.88%. As Geetha Manivannan was said to be disappointed with the ADMK's leadership, she was planning to switch the side and on Sunday, she has quitted from the ADMK officially joined the DMK.

Geetha Manivannan has met Senthil Balaji on Sunday and officially joined the DMK. Senthil Balaji was with the ADMK since the demise of Jayalalithaa and he then joined Dhinakaran's AMMK after which he joined the DMK. In the 2021 polls, Senthil Balaji had contested from the Karur constituency in the DMK ticket and took on ADMK's Minister MR Vijayabaskar.

Finally, Senthil Balaji has defeated Vijayabaskar and won the Karur constituency. As DMK's MK Stalin has become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, he had awarded Senthil Balaji a ministerial berth by naming him as the Minister for Electricity, Prohibition, and Excise. Senthil Balaji is the DMK's leader in Karur and Geetha Manivannan had met him on Sunday and officially joined the DMK.
