The massive celebrating day for the fans, as the second and final instalment of Mani Ratnam’s epic saga Ponniyin Selvan 2 based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s historical novel Ponniyin Selvan, has finally hit the theatres today on April 28th, and has created a frenzy among the fans.
Karthi, who plays Vanthiyadevan in 'Ponniyin Selvan,' today went to a popular theater in Chennai to watch the film with his fans, and he made a spectacular entrance in his car, which was surrounded by horses. The film has a runtime of 2 hours and 44 minutes, and opened to 3200 screens worldwide as per reports.
The film, which features a star-studded cast of Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha Krishnan and others, has been released in five languages - Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. The film has also witnessed special shows in various places across the country and overseas.

Many of them have praised Mani Ratnam’s vision and direction, as well as the stellar performances of the lead actors. Ponniyin Selvan 2 is a historical drama that revolves around the rise of Raja Raja Chola I and his quest to conquer the Chola throne.
The film also depicts the love stories of Vandiyathevan (Karthi), Arulmozhivarman (Jayam Ravi), Nandhini (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) and Kundavai (Trisha Krishnan). The film has music by AR Rahman, cinematography by Ravi Varman and art direction by Thotta Tharani.
