Is Maniratnam's Ponniyin Selvan 2 release to be postponed? Here's what we know

Maniratnam's Ponniyin Selvan - 1 premiered on September 30 of last year and has been widely feted and applauded by fans. The worldwide earnings for the film were over 500 crores. The movie is based on a serialised novel written in Tamil by Kalki in the 1950s. While fans were anticipating the debut of magnifying tale on silver screens, the new buzz on internet states that the film may postpone its premiere date.

According to the lastest murmurings since morning that PS-2 is going to be postponed indefinitely.The film's production team has now addressed the rumours of a delay in the film's release. To set the record straight, the makers have confirmed that there has been no revision to the previously scheduled release date of April 28 for Ponniyin Selvan 2 as the epic drama will hit theatres as announced in prior.

With a score by legendary composer AR Rahman, Ponniyin Selvan is one of this year's most anticipated pan-Indian films. According to rumours, the film's producers have set a date in March second half as the deadline for the film's grand audio launch and have planned massive, one-of-a-kind promotional campaign.

Notorious PS-2's stellar cast includes Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Shobita Dhulipala, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Ashwin, and a plethora of others. The film has been shot by cinematographer Ravi Varman and edited by Sreekar Prasad, and was produced by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies.
