Massive announcement from Netflix!!! Aravind Swami, Suriya, Vijay Sethupathi... check who else are in this project!

The lesser touched concept of 'Anthology' in Kollywood has now been vastly explored by the legendary and growing directors of Tamil cinema and ever since the cinema industry has got a new arm of OTT platforms to stretch its hand to touch the untouched, the cinema industry has been finding prospects to explore more with its new arm to reach the audiences directly with the new stories, new concepts, new technology, and new ideas.

The new arm of OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney+Hotstar has been birthing new faces of the Tamil cinema industry where it had seen the release of web-series, anthologies, and even exclusive release of new movies as the indefinite closures of theaters had pushed to producers to explore the OTT release and with decent reception, many multi-lingual movies have now been slewed before such streaming platforms.

The anthology was a lesser touched subject in Kollywood and most of the audience hadn't got the attention of such subjects until the release of 'Silu Karuppati', which was directed by Halitha Shameem and has four different stories in one movie. With having a wider reception, the movie had seen a massive hit and it had largely paved the way for the birth of movies with similar concepts.

As the OTT platforms had given the advantage of directly reaching the audience to their houses, the Tamil Cinema had recently witnessed the release of the anthology 'Pudham Puthu Kaalai', which was directed by five celebrating directors of Kollywood, and this recipe was cooked with the ingredients of five different stories and it has got recently released on Amazon Prime and it has faced a decent reception and reactions from the critics.

As Amazon has opened its account of releasing a Tamil anthology, Netflix has seemingly claimed that now the turn belongs to it and it has now come up with the confirmation that it would be releasing a Tamil anthology which is much bigger than what Amazon had released. Titled as 'Navarasa', the anthology will be of nine stories and nine directors and it will soon be released on Netflix.

In what has become a perfect and celebrating reunification, 'Navarasa' has roped in the top faces in the Tamil industry from directors, actors, musicians, to cinematographers. It has become a moment of 'big meets bigger' and this anthology will be produced by  Mani Ratnam and Jayendra Panchapakesan of Qube Cinema and it would be packed with nine different stories - anger, compassion, peace, courage, disgust, fear, love, wonder, and laughter.

Nine directors include Aravind Swami (making his debut), Gautam Vasudev Menon, KV Anand, Ponram, Bejoy Nambiar, Karthik Subbaraj, Karthick Naren, and Rathindran Prasad. The list of actors is no way less reputed than the directors as the anthology has roped in some of the ace and talented actors including Suriya, Aravind Swami, Siddharth, Vijay Sethupathi, Prakash Raj, Saravanan, Alagam Perumal, Prasanna, Vikranth, Bobby Simha, Gautam Karthik, Ashok Selvan, Robo Shankar, Ramesh Thilak, Sananth, Vidhu, and Sreeram.

It will also be featuring some of the leading actresses including Revathy, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Nithya Menen, Aishwarya Rajessh, Poorna, and Riythvika. In what has become a perfect pool of music directors, Oscar winner AR Rahman, D Imman, Ghibran, Aruldev, Karthik, Ron Ethan Yohann, Govind Vasantha, and Justin Prabhakaran will be composing music for this anthology, which will narrate the stories of nine 'rasas' that are nine expressions of a human being.

Pattukottai Prabhakar, Selvaa, Madhan Karky, and Someetharan have been inducted as the writers and the release date is yet to be announced and some reports say that it would be a 'Pongal' treat. One of the main factors of this project is that it has come with the motive of helping the workers in the Tamil Cinema industry who got affected due to the lockdown.

According to reports, this project will be produced under the banner of Justickets while AP International and Wide Angle creations as Executive Producers. It would a collective initiative that will raise funds to support those in the industry who got severely hit by the COVID-19 lockdown and restrictions that had indefinitely halted the works and cinema shootings which had eventually pushed the workers to endure deep financial distress and faltering livelihoods.
