Meet Sivaprakasam...The 61-year-old retired TN teacher who has triumphed NEET!

61-year-old retired school teacher Sivaprakasam in Tamil Nadu has successfully cleared the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) and become the latest epitome of triumphing regardless of age and also become the latest entrant into the club of elderly people in India who cleared the single-window examination for the medical admission. 

The results of the NEET exam were declared recently and the retired teacher has cleared the exam and expressed that he dreamt of becoming a doctor. Sivaprakasam is a native of Dharmapuri and he came to Omandurar Medical College for medical counselling on Friday - January 28. He has secured 249 marks in the NEET and he expects that he may be awarded a medical seat from a private institution. 

Interestingly, his student has also attended counselling along with him. Sivaprakasam's student Kumar is ranked 5th and has chosen Chennai Medical College to pursue his medical studies. During the counselling, Sivaprakasam and Kumar had posed for the pictures with their result cards. While addressing the reporters, Sivaprakasam said that he was happy to attend the counselling with his student.

He also thanked the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister for implementing a 7.5% reservation quota that is greatly benefitting the government school students and for taking care of their educational fees. He further said that his childhood dream was to become a doctor and he had appeared for the NEET exam since there is no age ceiling. With the success, Sivaprakasam has become the talk of the town and has become the first person over 61 years to clear the NEET in Tamil Nadu. There are a handful of people in India who had cleared the NEET despite their age.
